In this article, we look at some of the Freshman players who can put their team on their backs or make major contributions, and pull out a few playoff upsets in the process. These players are talented and have unique skill sets. Some can score the ball and others may be ferocious defenders. They are all poised to make a huge impact in the high school game this upcoming week.

[player_tooltip player_id='1092442' first='London' last='Thomas'] started the year off with a bank in the Inside Exposure Thanksgiving tournament and has not looked back. The talented Freshman leads a talented 17-win team in scoring and that's an amazing feat in its own right. Thomas can flat-out fill it up, averaging 18.4 points per game. Thomas does a lot of things well on the floor - she handles the ball well, she excels in the transition game, and she is a bonafide shooter and scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id='708143' first='Kendall' last='Proffitt'] is the type of player who could heat up and send a top seeded team home to watch the remaining playoff games on the stream. Anyone who has knocked down 100 threes for two consecutive seasons and is approaching 700 points as a Freshman is a dangerous opponent. Proffitt can handle the ball and is also a good rebounder, but she is most dangerous from behind the arc.

Ja' Niya Corbin stopped by the First Coast earlier this season and left a lasting impression. Corbin is a Freshman player who can score the ball from everywhere on the court, including the perimeter. The young guard is also a speedster on the court who puts pressure and stress on a defense. That traits make it hard on a team to stop her. Corbin also plays well in the transition game and plays with an extra gear when in the open court. She can also defend the opposing guard with tough on the ball defense. The young guard can also cut off driving angles to the rim. She leads her team in points and steals and that sums up her game.

[player_tooltip player_id='646515' first='Zoey' last='Brown'] is another freshman who has been lights out this season. Excitement is an understatement. Brown is a multitalented player who can shoot the three, get to the rim, and pull up in the midrange area. The young guard averages 13.4 points per game. Brown is a selfless player and playmaker. She has speed, quickness, craftiness, and can see the floor. That combination leads to a lot of assists and Brown can definitely pass the ball. She leads her team with close to 7 assists per game. Brown plays on both sides of the ball. She is a ball-hawk on the floor and she gets her share of steals. Brown and company will be a tough out in the playoffs. The Freshman will be a key player as she has been all season long.

[player_tooltip player_id='400815' first='Kylie' last='Green'] is another young player who can fill it up from behind the arc, but can also score in transition and get to the rim. Green has had a very impressive Freshman campaign and leads her team in multiple categories: rebounds, assists, steals, and even blocked shots. Green is a special talent who can catch fire and lead her team deep into the playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='912251' first='Ella' last='Crowe'] is a “dangerous” young Freshman who has supreme confidence in her abilities and the ability of her Freshmen heavy team. Crowe is a a workhorse on the basketball court and doesn't back down from any challenge. Defensively, the young Crowe can cover players out on the perimeter and loves going inside and fighting for rebounds and loose balls. Offensively, she loves to take it to the rim, and she is “sneaky” effective from behind the arc. Crowe and company are dangerous and she will be leading the charge.
