This game on Tuesday evening did not start how the Warhawks would have expected as Pella Christian came out on fire to take a 15-10 lead right from the tip but that's when North Mahaska turned up the pressure. The Warhawks came out hungry in the second quarter, putting together a 22-10 quarter overall to take a 32-25 lead into halftime and they never looked back. The Warhawks won the third quarter by 1 and tied in the fourth to win the game by a final of 58-50. All in all, the home team just put together a better game in this one overall. They had 6 less shot attempts, while making 2 more than the Eagles. All other stats were basically even across the board. I think this shows a prime example that it doesn't take much to lose in the Playoffs. One bad quarter or stretch of time and it could be over. On Friday, North Mahaska (21-2) will host Grundy Center (15-8) with a chance to continue onto the Regional Final.

In this article, we highlight several prospects that competed last night in the contest between North Mahaska and Pella Christian. There were a few standouts from both sides so make sure to check them out!

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

Pella Christian has a future collegiate player in [player_tooltip player_id='832203' first='Rachel' last='Kacmarynski'] if she stays on her current trajectory. Kacmarynski, a 5'10 CG, has that mixture of length, guard like ability, and knowledge of the game that every coach loves to coach at a young age. She is only her in sophomore season and she looks like she would be a viable option for most teams throughout the state already. Against the Warhawks, she registered a team high 14 points (5-17), 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals, and 2 block's - making her impact in every which way you could think of. She was someone that was looked to for production on both sides of the ball and she gave that her best effort in that endeavor.

[player_tooltip player_id='595162' first='Regan' last='Grewe'] of North Mahaska was a senior that led by example in this contest. Grewe, a 5'7 CG, recorded a game high 19 points (6-11), while also going 1-3 from three and 6-7 from the charity stripe. With a back and forth game like this one, every play matters and North Mahaska just managed to put together the better outing in the end. Grewe was a constant that Pella Christian was not necessarily ready for and the other skilled prospects behind her also did their part, when you combined those factors together, that turns into a team that is hard to contain.

The senior leadership on this team comes from a few individuals but someone that has always been a leader in their production, from the start to the end of her high school career, is [player_tooltip player_id='817708' first='Faith' last='Kacmarynski']. Faith is a powerful guard presence for this group in more than one way. She leads by example but she is also great vocally and working with the others around her. She creates a lot of great chances with the ball in her possession in the open court and that speaks to who she is overall as a competitor. She want to win as a part of the team and that is something I can respect. In this last game, Faith had 13 points (4-8) and 5 rebounds. Which were important number in a narrow ball game.

The highest rated player on the floor in this one belonged to North Mahaska with [player_tooltip player_id='311368' first='Breckyn' last='Schilling']. We highlighted Schilling yesterday for the possible game she could have. Well she came out and did a good job of setting the tone early-on for the evening. Schilling, a 5'11 CG, is truly a mismatch in most situations out on the high school compared to her competition. Against the Eagles, they did have size to match her but it really only slowed her down slightly. When the final buzzer sounded, Schilling had a cool 14 points (5-16), 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. In a Playoff battle like this one, each one of these stats creates a little bit of separation throughout the duration of a game and that's how they pulled away after the first quarter.

Along with Schilling, the other tall prospect in the middle for the Warhawks is [player_tooltip player_id='865264' first='Nataliya' last='Linder']. Linder is a 6'0 PF that lets her size really stand out. She might not be the one to kill you in any certain category but she is definitely someone that makes her mark on a contest with her length and reach. In this one she was efficient on both ends of the ball but she really happen to thrive on offense. She finished with 9 points (4-5), and 8 rebounds, 5 of which came on the offensive end. She also had 2 blocks and 2 steals to pair along with all of that. This was a big win for the Warhawks in my opinion. If they want to keep this train rolling, Linder is going to have to continue to impact things like she did last night.

Tied for the lead for most rebounds in the game for North Mahaska was senior PF, [player_tooltip player_id='1197051' first='Sydney' last='Andersen']. Andersen is averaging just under 6 RPG on her season as a whole. In this one, she had 8. She also scored 6 points and chased down 1 block. There is somewhat of a "three headed monster" forming in the middle with this Warhawk team when you break down their roster. Andersen, Schilling, and Linder seem like a well oiled machine at this point so as long as they keep it up, it could take them to the State Tournament before you know it.
