On Tuesday evening the Gilbert Tigers (10-8) went on the road to compete against a quality group in the Ballard Bombers (5-13) in Huxley, Iowa. The contest itself started with good pace as the away team took a 15-6 lead into the second quarter but from then on, the Bombers slowly started to crawl back. They ended up winning the 2nd and 3rd quarters by a combined 8 points, putting them down 1 going into the final stretch. During the 4th the Bombers ended up taking the lead, never giving it back, ultimately guiding them to a victory. In this piece we are going to briefly touch on some of the competitors from each program that stood out the most to those spectating.

[player_tooltip player_id='311386' first='Raegan' last='Loewe'] really stood out in this one as in the end, no one could ultimately stop her from getting where she was trying to go. In a contest that ended with a final score of 43-40, Loewe scored 20 of her team's 43 total points scored on over 60%+ shooting from the field. She also grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 2 assists in her efforts, demonstrating that she isn't someone that can only score the rock. When the final buzzer rang, this was the player with the most points on the evening between both teams. I'm excited to see what she can do at the next level, once things come to a close with Ballard over these next few weeks. She has always shown a lot of spark and that was no different tonight.

For the Gilbert Tigers, [player_tooltip player_id='311355' first='Ella' last='Henningsen'] has been a constant for them at the PF position for the past 3.5 years and she ended things as the team's leading scorer out of the post with a nice double-double of 12-10. This is not an unusual thing for Henningsen when speaking about her overall game. She usually produces at the scoring and rebounding aspects of the game when she is next to the hoop. Generally, it usually doesn't work out this way but Gilbert was the team that had more players, score higher numbers in this one when everything was said and done. They just happen to come up a little short at the final buzzer.

Do not sleep on [player_tooltip player_id='1091300' first='Kaylor' last='Johnson'] and what she might be able to put together over these next couple of years at the varsity level. Johnson, a 5'11 Forward prospect out of the 2028 Class, is a lot of handle with her mixture of size, smarts, and a high motor. Not only did Johnson record 6 points on the offensive end, she also registered 14 rebounds and 3 blocks to go along with that. Just from the numbers alone you can tell that Johnson is doing something right. When you consider that she is only a freshman at this time, it's promising to think where she might be able to take things before her high school career comes to a close.

[player_tooltip player_id='940993' first='Mollie' last='Schnormeier'] is another player for Gilbert that has helped them so far this season on the Varsity floor. Schnormeier produced for the Tigers last night with 12 points and 4 rebounds. This was one of those showings for Schnormeier that I'm sure she wishes she could forget from an efficiency standpoint but I think it's more of a fluke than anything else. Sometimes we don't have shots fall but if you are a SG, your job is primarily to shoot so you can't over think it. Just have confidence in your ability, trust in your coaches/teammates, and put in the proper work. If you have and do those three things, it usually breeds success and that's been the case for most of the season for Schnormeier.

Another individual in the underclassman group for Ballard, that showed some promise with her time on the floor is 2028 PG/SG, [player_tooltip player_id='885309' first='Olivia' last='Wacha']. Wacha recorded 5 rebounds and 2 blocks, showing that she can play meaningful minutes and make something happen in a positive way. Along with her skill, Wacha seems like a good teammate. She communicates well, she helps the others around her, and she is always trying to learn to be better. That has been evident all season long and especially in this ball-game.

I've always liked what [player_tooltip player_id='833953' first='Callie' last='Hales'] has brought to the floor at the PG position. You can tell that Hales is very dedicated to the sport whenever she is lacing up her kicks. In this specific showing she led her team in assists with a positive assists-turnover ration. There is still a long ways to go for Hales to unlock her full potential but she has been doing a good job of making the days count lately, while working hard on her weaknesses. If she can stay on that trend, it's going to be interesting to see where she ultimately ends up at the next level.
