We expect Olivia Wacha to be a Varsity starter once again this upcoming season. She started as a Sophomore last Winter, making her mark in different facets of the game. She stood out most with her rebounding and creating abilities but she also demonstrated that she can score at a solid rate herself while being a defender. Other than being talented on the court, Wacha is someone that a lot of coaches are drawn to with her positive energy. Not only can she produce on both sides of the ball, she can lead her team with communication and by example from the front of the pack like we have seen in the recent past.
Olivia Wacha attacks angles against her defenders better than most her age. She also understands how to get the defense on their toes whole being able to switch directions in the drop of a hat. This combination helps her get downhill while moving toward the bucket and that usually leads to a lot of production by her team in one way or another on the offensive end. Wacha also has good size for what she can do out on the floor at 5’9 so she can move around and play from the 2 or even 3 if need be. Looking back on this Winter and she is coming off a rememberable campaign as a whole. Now she is working to build on that on the road this Spring AAU season.

of Ballard High School. Wacha is a 5’9 guard, that does a lot of things well on and off of the basketball. She is her team’s unquestionable leader as the PG in their offense but she can also get down the floor in transition for other types of looks in open space. Defensively, she has fast hands, an act for coming to the ball, and balanced coordination with her footwork. All of these things together lead to multiple tips, deflections, and steals throughout the duration of a contest by Wacha, which shows up on the stat sheet. This is the definition of someone who is a stat stuffer. If she keeps it up, she will finish off her high school career one day and be extremely proud of the numbers averaged while helping her team win. That’s for sure.

. Wacha recorded 5 rebounds and 2 blocks, showing that she can play meaningful minutes and make something happen in a positive way. Along with her skill, Wacha seems like a good teammate. She communicates well, she helps the others around her, and she is always trying to learn to be better. That has been evident all season long and especially in this ball-game.

. Currently Wacha competes with the All Iowa Attack
and she makes some eye-opening plays at the Point Guard position when she takes the floor. From looking at Ballards returning roster and knowing what Wacha can bring to the table, I’m not sure where she will fall in the pecking order of that program. If she made Varsity and got some minutes right away, it wound’t surprise me in the slightest. She still has a long way to go but the dedication, hardwork, mental side of the game, and athletic ability are all there. If she can work on combining those together, she is going to be a PG out of the 2028 Class that will see a lot of success during her high school career.
