This award emphasizes individual accomplishments and performances during the 2024-25 season. Prospects who compete on teams that excel in their division, conference, and against competitive teams were prioritized. To be included as a finalist, a player must have played for a high school team ranked by an authoritative girls basketball resource and demonstrated consistent impactful performances throughout the season. Two Player of the Year Finalists will be selected for each grade. The girls chosen are those who we believe impact their team with such significance that their team would not be in the same competitive category without them. Their performance throughout the scope of this season stands above other finalists and makes them the most deserving recipient of what we hope will be a highly respected award for years to come. This is our attempt to offer a fresh award to several of the best basketball players in the state, on the best teams in the state. Here are six of our 2025 Senior Player of the Year Finalists.

Anayya propelled the Falcons to a MAC-Red title at 9-1 and a 20-2 overall record this season. She showed her scoring dominance with 37 points against Dakota and passed the 1,000-point mark before Christmas. Anayya uses her long frame, relentless instincts, and quick burst to beat defenders to the rim, win rebounding battles, score putbacks, block shots, disrupt passes, and earn free throws. Anayya had at least 11 games this season with 20 points or more and her determined performance against Utica Eisenhower resulted in a 60-45 win as she contributed in all areas with 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists, five blocks, and sank all eight of her free throws. Anayya will be continuing her basketball career at Grand Valley State following graduation.

Aubrey has been Negaunee's MVP this season and she's a U.P prospect to watch this postseason. The Miners graduated all-time scoring leader Ella Mason after their semifinal run last season, which created the perfect opportunity for Aubrey to cement her legacy as a senior—which is exactly what she's done. Negaunee finished the regular season 21-0, won the West-PAC East, and defeated Gladstone, Ishpeming, and Marquette twice. Aubrey was a finalist for West-PAC Defender of the Year last season and is a frontrunner to win the award this season. The Miners are 69-7 with two conference titles, two district titles, a regional final, and a semifinal appearance during her time as a starter. Aubrey scored a combined 48 points with 10 steals and five assists in two games against Calumet with a season-high 30 points and six triples in their first game. She earned the Holiday Bash MVP award with 20 points, four assists, and four steals against Ludington. Aubrey is averaging 13.5 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game this season. She has 89 deflections and 71 steals this year with 780 points and 266 steals in her career. Aubrey sets a high standard for work ethic, toughness, and competitiveness in the Negaunee program; she'll be an excellent addition to a college program.

Karie led the Falcons to a statement win against Midland with 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. She contributed in every way to help the Falcons defeat Sault St. Marie with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Karie achieved double-digit marks in points, steals, assists, and rebounds with a 14-point, 11-assist, and 10-steal triple-double against Bay City John Glenn.
Charlotte has been a cornerstone guard for a dominant A.A. Fa. Gabriel Richard team. The Irish have won three consecutive CHSL titles with a 32-league-game winning streak, a state-record 28-win season, and a 20-1 record this season. Her leadership and selfless style have amassed a school record of 400 assists. She is the first player to surpass 1,000 career points and holds the record with 1,149. Charlotte is averaging 13.2 points (11 shots/GM), 4.1 assists (3.0 Ast/TO ratio), 3.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, shooting 79.2% from the free throw line and 41.6% beyond the arc. She holds the school record with 173 three-pointers made in her career. Charlotte has 382 rebounds and 218 steals in her career. Charlotte was the CHSL Final Prep Player of the game against Notre Dame Academy and Gabriel Richard has signature wins against Rockford, Mercy, St. Mary's Prep, Clarkston, Goodrich, Lumen Christi, Chelsea, Detroit Renaissance, and Notre Dame Academy. Charlotte was given the task of defending the opposing team's best scorer in several games and only once did they shoot 50% from the field. Charlotte's work ethic, commitment to improvement, and commitment to winning as a team have impacted the culture at FGR; she'll be continuing her career at Ferris State after graduation.

Alli has led the Tecumseh Indians to basketball royalty the past two years and will graduate as the best scorer in school history. Tecumseh knocked off state-champion Lansing Catholic to win the regional championship last year, have secured two straight district titles, and consecutive SEC championships for the first time in school history. Alli has led the turnaround, becoming the all-time leading scorer with over 1,500 points, while setting records for 3-pointers and free throws made in a career. Alli has been Lenawee County Player of the Year twice, SEC First-Team 3 times, 1st Team All-State 2023-2024, and is a Miss Basketball Finalist. This season, Alli leads the Indians in scoring with 14.9 points per game (60% FG), while averaging six rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per contest. Her versatility to score inside using various post moves and effectively knockdown perimeter jumpers is a catch-22 for defenders. Tecumseh finished 21-1 (10-0 SEC-White) with statement wins against Temperance Bedford, Detroit Edison, Chelsea, Lumen Christi, Detroit Renaissance, and Northville. They are the favorite to challenge Gabriel Richard in the playoffs. Alli will be joining Eastern Michigan University after graduation.
