Kate earned Cascades MVP honors as a junior and is another impressive addition to Alma’s 2025 recruiting class. Her determination as a primary ball-handler against heavy pressure, toughness to play through pain, and impactful performance on both ends against a challenging opponent in November compounded her next-level merit. Kate faced fierce defensive pressure, athleticism, and physicality on Sunday at the LBI Mitten Opening; her strong-willed performance helped lead Grass Lake to an impressive victory. Kate showed her toughness by remaining in the game after suffering a shoulder stinger on a floater she scored through a foul. Kate was locked in from beyond the arc, hitting multiple timely 3s throughout the game. She split defenders using shifty crossover dribbles and converted layups full-speed at the rim. Her poise and quickness dribbling against extremely difficult pressure showed why the Scots secured an outstanding 2025 point guard in their recruiting. Kate is the arrowhead for a Grass Lake team that heads into the winter as the best D3 squad in the state.

– Received an offer from Alma College.
Starkey is an exciting prospect that schools at the next level are obviously taking an interest in. Her straight line speed and ability to beat the defense down the floor can turn into instant offense. Starkey also carries a dangerous jumper from behind the arc.

Starkey scored from the line, off hard cuts to the rim and multiple 3 pointers. She showed off some impressive speed down the floor, both with and without the ball, that led to fast break buckets. Starkey even once shrugged off a screen and drove to the rim for a layup.

Starkey is a talented and promising prospect from Michigan. She has terrific handles and can really go both ways with the ball. Starkey has some really tough dribble drive combos that help her get into the lane and make plays from there. She has nice touch and feel from the mid range and can also finish with creativity at the rim. Starkey feels where her defender is and creates space off of them. She also has the ability to drive and dish off the ball.
