Last year, Ishpeming senior Jenna Maki turned in a two-game performance that grabbed every college coach's attention in the building—this year, it was [player_tooltip player_id='423696' first='Anna' last='Ignatoski']. Anna exploded for a game-high 29 points with six rebounds to lead West Catholic to a Cinderella comeback win that knocked off the defending State champs. Anna led the team in scoring again with 12 points vs. Tecumseh, including six rebounds. Her accurate step-back jumper and ability to finish full-speed layups with both hands were impressive. Anna triumphed over injuries and will be an excellent addition to a college program. She's the first Maki Award winner--given to one under-the-radar prospect whose remarkable performance at the Breslin had college coaches asking "Who is this?" and "Where is she playing next year?"

Elisha was productive in both games for West Catholic at the Breslin Center. She was clutch during their upset vs. DEPSA with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Elisha added 10 points with four rebounds and five assists vs. Tecumseh in the Finals. She created shots for herself and her teammates while using her length to challenge opponents on defense. Elisha will be exciting to watch at Toledo next season.

Addi was the X-factor for Tecumseh and her success inside was key to their state title win. Addi had a monster semifinal performance against Frankenmuth with 16 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks. She followed that up with a near double-double with nine points, 12 rebounds, and four assists during the Finals vs. West Catholic. Addi muscled her way into position for entry passes and rebounds. She finished well around the rim and was effective dishing the ball off to open teammates when the defense overcommitted. Addi protected the rim and played at her best on the biggest stage.

Alli was a Miss Basketball Finalist and finished her high school career as a state champion. She knocked down a triple against Frankenmuth, scoring six points with five rebounds. In the finals, Alli sealed her defenders with good footwork inside to score layups and put the game on ice down the stretch with a perfect 8/8 from the charity stripe. Alli moved her feet well on the perimeter to cut off drive attempts on defense and disrupted entry passes into the low post. She led the team with 14 points and secured five rebounds. Alli has an opportunity to contribute immediately to Eastern Michigan and will have quite the cheering section at the George Gervin Center next season!

Makayla poured in eight points for Tecumseh in their semifinal win vs. Frankenmuth and put the Indians on the path to victory with a giant first quarter in the finals. She buried two triples and turned a steal into a strong layup through a foul--plus the free throw. Makayla used a jab step to shift her defender and blew by for another layup. She scored all 11 points in the 1st, pursued seven rebounds, and added three steals. Makayla has committed to SVSU.

Chloe made a loud statement about her value as a prospect at the Breslin Center. Her defense and rebounding were crucial to the team's success, while she chipped in timely scoring on the offensive end. Chloe scored seven points and secured 11 rebounds against Frankenmuth then gave the Indians 11 points and four rebounds vs. West Catholic in the finals. Chloe drilled a confident wing three and made a great backdoor cut to score a layup--she secured a loose ball to convert another layup. Chloe's selfless style, dedicated rebounding, and defensive impact against top teams helped Tecumseh win the state title--she also earned a higher ranking.

Tecumseh needed somebody to step up and make perimeter shots against Frankenmuth in the semifinals--Ashlyn was that somebody. She caught fire, hitting four of six three-point attempts for the Indians on her way to 14 points. In the finals, Ashlyn poured in nine points with a triple and dished out five assists. Her clutch shooting and effective passing were a major reason why the Indians secured the state title.

Isis was a Miss Basketball Finalist and led the Pioneers back to the Breslin after winning the state title last year. She showed the athleticism and playmaking abilities that make her a unique prospect. Isis had a healthy stat line of 12 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals in the semifinals vs. West Catholic--She grabbed steals, finished layups, and created points for teammates. Isis graduates as the number one prospect in Michigan's 2025 class and will have the entire state cheering her on at California-Berkley next season.

Nichole started the game red hot from 3-point distance, hitting three corner triples for DEPSA in the first quarter of the semifinals. She stayed consistent for the Pioneers all game--scoring contested layups with touch and strength inside. Nichole flexed her muscles in the biggest game of the year and refused to be stopped. She ended the game with a team-high 23 points and proved exactly why she's the highest-ranked power forward in the 2027 class. Nichole's passion and toughness permeate the room--her development as a perimeter threat is going to make her even more dynamic on offense.

Clare finished her career on a high note against eventual state champ Tecumseh in the semifinals. She displayed her strengths on both sides of the ball, sinking a team-high three triples, scoring layups with both hands and aggressively blocking shots on defense. Clare led the team with 15 points and secured four rebounds with four blocks. There appears to be a golden opportunity to contribute to Lake Superior State immediately and I'm excited to see Clare rise to the challenge as a freshman.
