17U PGH Dynasty Region Kickoff Sunday Standouts

The players kept playing hard as they know this is their last summer to get that exposure to obtain that goal of getting to the next level. These 5 players stood out to me Sunday. I know I may have missed some as there was some good talent in the gym Sunday. She caught my eye on Saturday so I returned to watch again Sunday. An outstanding down hill driver that attacked the rim taking the contact for the finish. On the low block the footwork consisted of up/under moves to go with a effective drop step for the easy bucket off the glass. Sunday she showed more of an outside game knocking down several 3's as opposing teams backed off. Nice mid range jump when ran off the line pulling up in the gap. Moved and relocated without the ball knocking down the kick out for the 3. Good vision in open transition making the correct reads for easy scoring opportunities. On defense I kept having to check the roster to make sure she was listed at 5'8 cause she sure played longer than that A low stance and quick lateral movement made tough for opposing ball handler to get around. Continuous movement without the ball that was looking for the pass for a easy score. Very efficient scorer around the basket keeping the ball high and protected to not get it blocked. Excellent rim running post for any school that is looking for a 6'1 rim runner. Great hands on the fastbreak catching the long pass for the finish. Shot blocker on defense that had great discipline to know when to jump or just wall up on the drives </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stood out was the movement on defensive press playing the back line of the 2-2-1. Good handles when attacking the rim physically from the wing spot. strong enough to post up on a smaller guard causing a mismatch problem. Showed some good moves off the dribble inside the paint area taking on the contact for the old fashion 3 point play. Excellent rebounder of the offensive end stealing couple of possessions for her team with the offensive board. Nice jumper from mid range area. Nice form and release on the outside shot. Hands and feet were ready not needing much time on the catch and release. Attacked the rim with quick first step then usinga using a small slide step move to avoid the charge. Finished at the rim with either hand not missing many layups when I watched. The thing that stood out to me was every time was when a shot went up she was crashing the offense boards coming away with a great share of them. Played all out every play in between the line and did not take off any that I noticed.
