AAU season is ready to kick into full gear with the first live period of the year less than two weeks away! Athletes from around the state will join dynamic regional programs such as the Jersey Gemz, Shoreshots, Raptors, Soldiers, Panthers, Philly Rise, etc. As I get ready to hit the road (and the skies) to scout talent, I have my eyes set on eight players, specifically, who are primed for a huge summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='871258' first='Sarah' last='Farrow'] | NJ Soldiers

The 5'8" guard/forward heads into AAU riding a wave of momentum from the high school season. Sarah brings so much toughness to this squad and a formidable rebounding presence, even though undersized. She was one of the best players on her SJG2 sectional title winning Panthers; leading rebounder, second leading scorer and second in steals. She is sure to "wow" college coaches with her versatility and relentlessness. The Soldiers have produced three of Cape May County's best players in recent memory with [player_tooltip player_id='414395' first='Reese' last='Downey'], [player_tooltip player_id='414340' first='Macie' last='McCracken'] and [player_tooltip player_id='525308' first='Sabrina' last='Little'].

[player_tooltip player_id='1048715' first='Lola' last='McGonigle'] | Comets

Such a complete guard! She runs the point to perfection and can also slide over to the 2 to knock down shots at an extremely high clip. The 5'6" lead guard is well-known for her 3-point shooting prowess and Chelsea Gray-like court vision, but is ready to impress coaches with an improved mid-range game. Over this past HS season, her 15-foot jumper has become BUTTER. Her shooting form coupled with quick release makes her devastating when she gets clicking on all cylinders. She also brings tenacity on defense, guarding the perimeter intensely and applying firm ball pressure.

[player_tooltip player_id='890878' first='Aryana' last='Iyer'] | United NJ

It takes a special talent to make the transition 3 look like a good shot. Ary is that special talent! Actually, any 3 looks good when she shoots it because she's established herself as one of the best long-range snipers in the state. She thrives in uptempo play and loves to push the pace whenever fit, using her speed to blow past defenders whether with or without the ball. While her strengths lie in knockdown 3-point shooting, she doesn't get enough credit for her passing abilities and smooth facilitation of the basketball. Though a small guard at 5'6", she sees the floor well and makes smart, split-second decisions.

[player_tooltip player_id='919624' first='Nawel' last='Lefebvre'] | Philly Rise

Nawel came out swinging in her high school hoops debut! She went up against some of the toughest programs in the state and looked like a vet with so much poise. Last summer with the NJ Raptors, she turned some heads and gave everyone a glimpse of what they can expect. Bow on the EYBL circuit, she's ready to turn up the heat and show why she may just be one of the most skilled '28's in the country. The 6'1" lefty guard/wing can do it all, including touch rim! She's versatile, agile and locked in at all times. A college coach's dream!

[player_tooltip player_id='719416' first='Scarlet' last='Levake'] | Shoreshots

You'll find scouting reports that list this 6'2" talent as a guard, forward and center. With size and versatility, it comes as no surprise! At the guard spot, she uses advantageous size to shoot over smaller defenders and bully them to the basket. Switching over to the 3, she can knock down shots from the wing. If she's put at the 4 or 5, she poses a formidable threat because of her frame and ability to battle with bigs in the post. Defensively, she has great instincts and uses every bit of her long reach to disrupt the lanes and force turnovers/deflections. She is able to defend both the perimeter and the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='601332' first='Annie' last='Conover'] | United NJ

On a team loaded with so much talent, Annie quickly jumps out as one of the best. She's fresh off a career year in which she led New Providence to Group 1 State Chip glory! She's been one of the best kept secrets in New Jersey the past few years but after a junior year breakout, the secret is out! She is a slashing guard who plays much bigger than her 5'8" frame is able to bully defenders off the bounce; high level finisher through contact. She's able to knock down the 3 at a high clip and also moves well without the ball to reposition around the perimeter for the catch and shoot. She maintains the same level of intensity on offense as she does on defense, disrupting passes and breaking apart plays. Another things college coaches can expect to see is fearless rebounding from the guard spot.
