The Legacy Region Kick-Off tips off this Friday, and I'd like to highlight a few kids for programs coming to the event. Today, I'm highlighting some kids that small schools should consider if they have the time at the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='533071' first='Marti' last='Rebman']

Rebman found a groove as an off-ball guard this past high school season at Edgerton. I feel she's more comfortable away from the ball so she can space the floor and attack recovering defenses instead of being the initiator each time down the floor. In that role, Rebman shot the ball better than any season in her three seasons at Edgerton and was a more efficient scorer over a season. She's been an intriguing kid to watch over the past few years.

[player_tooltip player_id='889757' first='Brinna' last='Paulson']

The Oshkosh North guard has been with a program fighting their way up the FVA slowly but surely. Paulson is the deep cut for college coaches looking at this before the event. Paulson plays on the second [program_tooltip program_id='713038' first='Wisconsin' last='Blaze'] 17U team but has some traits that small schools may find appealing. In a better situation, she can be a solid shooter, and there's enough athleticism to work with, where I believe she could be a solid defender at a small school at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='842247' first='Madi' last='Thomson']

Thomson was a massive reason Lena was seconds away from a state title in 2024. The Lena native has a unique profile for a guard. She's a 5'11ish kid who approaches the game like a guard but does some things you'd think a post would do. Thomson can play with her back to the basket, create for her teammates, see over kids who defend her, and get downhill to put pressure on the basket. The Lena native may not stretch the floor as well as other kids in her position who could play for small schools, but she may put more pressure on the rim than all of them.

[player_tooltip player_id='813295' first='Jenna' last='Ott']

The Appleton East guard played a role for a Patriot team that made a surprise run to the state tournament. The 5'9 Appleton native is a ready-made 3&D kid for the next level. That's been her role everywhere she's been. Ott can play alongside higher-usage kids who want to handle the ball more than they want to be away from it, and her ability to space the floor can accommodate that for them. She's also a solid enough defender where you don't worry about defending inside or out against solid wings in the FVA.
