PGH Legacy Region Kick Off: Starting Things Off (14U)

Friday night there was only two games happening at the 14U level and one that was being streamed live. In the contest that was being streamed in real time, there were a handful of prospects that showed out in one way or another. Below we talk about some of those individuals and briefly discuss what they bring to the table as they compete!   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    This is a PG with great vision, orchestrating skills, and a lot of self awareness. This is someone who seems to always be willing to pass, almost to a fault. She is also a skilled shooter from deep off the catch or at least she was last night in her team's first contest of the weekend. [program_tooltip program_id='712375' first='All' last='in'] all, someone who might not score 40 a game but she still consistently produces and that's noteworthy.      Meyer comes off the bench and does exactly what is asked of her. She brings crazy high energy, she is always mentally locked in, she is moveable around the court, and she seems to be a great teammate. Defensively, she displays all the intangibles that a coach loves to work with. She is first on the floor for a loose ball, she isn't afraid to get physical, and she continually makes adjusts in real time to make an impact in one way or another. I've only seen Meyer for an hour but you can tell she has it together with a bright future in this game if she sticks with it.     [player_tooltip player_id='875083' first='Erica' last='Simos'] has the mixture of size, coordination, and balance we love to see. On several different occasions last night, Simos made plays by the bucket off the roll, while also making plays from the midrange with her jump shooting ability. She is someone that has the demeanor to pick and roll or pick and pop into the midrange. All of this was on display. Now it's all about using that momentum into the rest of the weekend.     Knowledge of the game is something that can separate you from others and Eden Bruno demonstrates that. Her physical stature, her smart mindset, and her natural size all stick out as notable on the hardwood. Last night, Bruno was moving from PG to the Wing, making impressing plays at both spots. At times she would make a big play on defense, which would lead into offense where she would go all the way for a score in transition, she would also catch and shoot for solid attempts from the midrange or she would attack off the dribble in the half court. All viable options, which showed a lot of promise throughout the contest.     [player_tooltip player_id='1231282' first='Taylor' last='Schmidt'] is a prospect with better than average size at 5'10 and she knows what to do with that size. She isn't the fastest at this time but Schmidt is very capable on both ends. Offensively, she has a seasoned game with good footwork and patience. Defensively, she has great reaction times to help in the middle and she is always someone that others have to worry about once they beat their original defender off of the dribble. When you put those things together, you get someone with a lot of promise and that's what we have here.
