If the first three Prep Girls Hoops Circuit events from last week told us anything, it is that the basketball to be played at this year's rendition is sure to be nothing short of scintillating.

The four events that occurred the following weekend – including the Roll Tide Rumble in Guntersville, Alabama – had a tough act to follow those opening weekend gatherings in Chicago, Colorado and Dallas. But those who were either watching in person or online via Baller TV had to be delighted with what they saw.

A reason for that was the highly competitive play that took place among the 16U field. We unveiled our 16U First Team and now turn our attention to the Second Team from this weekend past.

It was two years ago when Johnson announced she landed an offer from Division I North Carolina A&T. Johnson has lived up to that Division I prospect status ever since. Her team – Team Elite Hubbard 16U 3SSB – won all four games it played in northern Alabama. Johnson helped to set the tone for her team when Team Elite Hubbard 16U 3SSB was dominant in a 66-12 win over SC Eagles UA Rise 16U. Johnson scored 12 points. Standing at 5-foot-9, Johnson's ability to rebound the ball and collect steals compliment her ability to place numbers on the scoreboard. She is coming off a season with 4A Northview where her Titans finished with a 21-10 mark.

An important element in the winning formula for The SisterHood Lady Lions 16U Bolden, she also got to experience going undefeated at the Roll Tide Rumble. Taylor is usually in a team's lineup playing the two but she can also be moved over to point. She is an efficient runner of the floor and particularly excels when making plays in the transition game. A 3-point shot is part of Taylor's offensive repertoire and she has no problems drawing contact which can place her at the free throw line. Her weekend included a 12-point outing in a 67-37 victory over Team Elite Hubbard 16U Josh.

Young is one of two representatives from 6A Terry that comprise The SisterHood Lady Lions 16U Bolden roster this AAU season. She did her part – and then some – in ensuring the Mississippi-based team would return home after a perfect weekend in Guntersville. She stands at 5-foot-8 but will put herself in position to grab rebounds – a trait not always common in backcourt players. Young's weekend included a nine-point performance in that 67-37 victory over Team Elite Hubbard 16U Josh. In addition, she stayed clear of the referee's whistle as she did not have a personal foul called against her in that game.

East Limestone is well represented on this year's [program_tooltip program_id='713704' first='Alabama' last='Elite'] 16U roster as Cain is one of two from the 5A school sporting the travel uniform. [program_tooltip program_id='713704' first='Alabama' last='Elite'] 16U put together a successful weekend in Guntersville, going 3-1. Among those three wins was one over SC Eagles UA Rise 16U – a team that encountered plenty of hard luck this past weekend. The South Carolina team gave [program_tooltip program_id='713704' first='Alabama' last='Elite'] 16U a game but 11 points from Cain made the difference. Cain is someone who can play at either the one or two, can be accurate with her 3-point shooting and is also tough to contend when she is on the defense end of the floor as well.

Game planning for the six feet of this standout from 6A Murphy is a tall task. What makes it even tougher is that Jones is a six foot guard with very accurate 3-point shooting abilities. Jones' OMG Academy 16U squad finished the weekend in Guntersville with two wins and two losses. The team's lone Sunday game resulted in one of those victories by virtue of a 48-39 decision to Georgia-based Team Elite Hubbard 16U Josh. Jones led all OMG Academy 16U point-getters with a 15-point effort. Out of the 15 she scored, 12 occurred in the first half and all of her made shots were of the 3-point variety. In addition, she did not have any problems with whistles as she went from the opening tip to the final buzzer of that contest without a foul being called against her.
