Shania, "The One", James is exactly what her nickname eludes too. James is a 5'5 PG with a shifty handle, impressive awareness, and a ton of ability of both sides of the ball. As a PG, she can run the show and be the leader while setting up her team's offense, she can control pace of play, she can control tempo, and she can make clutch plays out of no where with very little space and time left on the possession. All of these abilities were on display this weekend. Didn't matter who the competition was, James was ready to feast and she did a thorough job of that throughout the weekend. Best PG I had the chance of observing the past few days.

If you are looking across a full gym with hundreds of people, you can still pick Maggie Bishopp out of a crowd because of her natural height. Bishopp is listed at 6'3/6'4 but I would lean more towards the higher number out of the two. As a player, Bishopp controls what she is suppose to. Usually that being the middle of the lane but she moves well enough that she could move to the outside to defend if need be. As a coach, you'd want Bishopp to switch everything and stay by the hoop as a rim protector but that's not how it always shakes out. The size and strength that she brings to the floor is noticeable. She is a force with her back to the basket and her rebounding ability is always a factor when she is competing from the looks of it. Most at this age can't match this mixture of size, athletic ability, and IQ. This was one of the tallest, if not thee tallest player I evaluated this weekend and she isn't just tall, she can play a little bit too.

When you produce, you standout. Doesn't matter if it's on the high school floor or travel floor. Someone that did a great job of producing in some narrow victories this weekend was [player_tooltip player_id='590575' first='Kaylea' last='Lacey'] of [program_tooltip program_id='716246' first='Illinois' last='Legends'] 17U. Lacey was the one that had the ball in her possession when her team needed an important basket. Lacey would catch and attack in a short amount of time, making the defense react or else it would be a simple finish for the SG. With a roster that has multiple quick guards, Lacey stood out as one of their best. She was one of the most well rounded out of her group, which was pretty obvious from an outside point-of-view.

Jenna Kuehn competes with 24:UP AAU and she makes her presence known with how well she maneuvers from block-to-block. Kuehn, a 6'3 Center, is her team's source of production in the middle on both ends or at least she was this weekend. It was on defense that she really stood out to anyone watching. She was altering shots, creating tips/deflections, and making sure that anyone coming into the lane didn't have a clean look at the basket on her watch. We always say it, "you can't teach height." That's what we have here. A next level player, that has notable size, who could make some waves at the collegiate level before you know it.

I'm a big fan of [player_tooltip player_id='598490' first='Ava' last='Putman'] as an off-guard. Putman popped up with past season on the high school floor in Iowa as dominant source of energy, skill, and leadership. Putman is a quicker guard that primarily moves around the 1 or 2 spot. She has the capabilities to lead as a PG or she can move off the ball as a SG and still produce with everything she brings to the table. A smooth handle, solid vision, and a calm demeanor. Putman's [program_tooltip program_id='715980' first='Team' last='Iowa'] 17U team did some work and got into it the past few days. They took some bruises but they are going to come out better on the other side because of it.
