Rhode Island Basketball Club is one of the more competitive teams not only RI, but the entire region. They successfully craft teams that give themselves the opportunity to throw their hat in the ring with anyone. They're sending a team to PA this weekend and it's a scary squad that can squander many of the opposing team's hopes. These girls get after it defensively, plus they're willing to take on any challenge that presents itself. This is a well-rounded team that's absolutely refreshing to watch. Below are 5 RIBC players to keep eyes on at the Live at the Nook tournament.

Use code MBG30 for 30% off your first purchase of any subscription.

[player_tooltip player_id='1209648' first='Maliah' last='Pierre'] (2027) | 5'8 Wing | RIBC

Pierre is a piercing defender that can shut down some of the opposing team's best offensive players. She uses her long and athletic frame to be physically imposing. Maliah deters primary creators with sound defensive mechanics. She'll burst into action in no time and can her persistence as well as attention to detail lead to offenses having a rough time. Not only a defender though, but Maliah also has shown the ability to put the ball in the basket as well, particularly as the game speeds up. The '27 wing gets out on the break early plus she's not afraid to attack the hole with players in her space. Her impact is surely felt on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1237949' first='Elaina' last='Reed'] (2027) | 6'0 Wing/Forward | RIBC

Elaina's multifaceted game will come in handy this weekend. She's a connective passer that's also has shown to have a balanced offensive game. Reed is never doing too much on the court. They'll be looking to their 6ft x-factor talent to assert herself at various points in the games. Her versality on offense and the defensive end is beneficial to the team's success.

[player_tooltip player_id='1118523' first='Courtney' last='Howell'] (2026) | PF | RIBC

The athletic forward understands the game on both sides of the ball, but where she stands out is on the defensive side of the ball. Courtney is a phenomenal help-side defender. She brings an intensity that will lead her team to getting out in transition. Howell can also be relied upon to hold off her own individual matchup. Her energy can be felt anywhere she is on the floor. Offensive players need to beware of Howell's presence. There's countless blocks, tips and steals Courtney either gets herself or is able to contribute to. That shutdown defense can be a major difference maker in a tournament of this magnitude.

[player_tooltip player_id='301042' first='Bleu' last='Kerr'] (2026) | 5'9 CG | RIBC

The mismatch-seeking Kerr will look to exert her influence early on. Her ability to make plays happen with the ball in her hand is an underrated trait. Not only can she score the ball and take advantage of isolation plays, but she also draws attention away from other teammates as she drives. The reclassed guard is certainly one to watch this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='975729' first='Aaralyn' last='Scott'] (2028) | 5'6 PG | RIBC

The highly touted '28 guard is scrappy and brings a sense of serenity as the point even as the game gets chippy. She can be trusted to control the tempo and can thrive in the different style games they'll be competing in. Her steady 2-way game has her set as a top 10 player within her class. The #4 ranked pg will start picking up many more offers shortly with her advanced skillset.
