Vernon High School (Fortville, IN).

Last month, we updated our rankings in each of the four graduating classes currently in high school. With the Spring grassroots season in full swing, I wanted to take a moment to press 'pause', go back, and look at a few Guards & Wings in the Class of 2028 who we currently have listed with a little analysis on each of them.

.

I did not get the opportunity to see Ella in-person this season, but I did watch a couple of full-length games online. She has nice length, end-to-end speed, and she does a solid job of scoring it in a variety of ways. She is best attacking the basket off the bounce, but she did make 45 3-pointers at a 29% rate this year, and that should only improve moving forward. She is also an active defender who uses here length well at that end of the floor.

Nyomi really burst onto the scene as a Freshman, helping Marion to its most wins in several years. She has nice height, length, wiry strength, and a fluid athleticism to her. She can handle it a little in transition and initiate the offense, but she's also willing to go inside and use her height/size to her advantage. She can post smaller defenders, create a little off the bounce, plus she does a nice job of protecting the paint.

I was able to see Katharine during a December holiday tournament, and I felt like she did a really good job of playing with nice skill, poise, and understanding, almost like she was actually a veteran guard. She handled pressure fairly well off the bounce, she was willing to run offense and find open teammates, but she also shot it well from each level. She is a balanced athlete, she plays with a motor, and she seems to enjoy playing the game.

Ava is one of those kids who is already skilled and talented, but I feel like her best days are well in front of her. She has a long, wiry frame, she's a fluid athlete, and she's consistently growing a couple of inches each year. She has a nice handle, good vision, and she's able to play with her head up scanning the floor. At the same time, Ava can shoot/score it fairly consistently, and I think she will be a much-improved player in a couple of years once she finishes her growth.

Based on everyone I talk to who knows this class, Zoey seems to be one of the more entertaining prospects to watch. She is quick, feisty, and plays with a lot of emotion & toughness. She always competes, and she is able to affect a game at either end of the floor. She gives good effort defensively, she can rebound her position, and she will make hustle plays. But she also has a solid perimeter shot, she can break down a defense, and she can score or distribute.
