Battle in the Emerald City: 6 More Standout 17U Guards

We already highlighted 11 of the top guards from the Battle in the [program_tooltip program_id='713343' first='Emerald' last='City'] last weekend, and here are six more guards who showed off impressive skill sets at the event in the 17U division.    An all-around guard who competed at a high level with energy and skill. Can knock down shots at each level, was strong at the rim, and showed a real nice stroke out to three. She made a couple of big blocks both coming from the help side and trailing the play that highlighted the intensity she plays with. Very reliable with the ball in her hands and was a key player for NW Select all weekend.     Was really impressed with Tupua's ability to break down defenders with the dribble. She's very shifty in tight spaces and also has some physicality to her game which allows her to attack tight angles and be a force getting to the hoop. She made defenders plan for a lot of possibilities on the perimeter with a plethora of ball fakes and her quick footwork. Hard worker on both ends with an expansive offensive game who was able to create her own looks for NW Blazers S40.     Eastman played a really solid all-around game over the weekend. She's fundamentally sound, pays attention to the details, and picks her spots well on the offensive side. She can knock down the outside shot at a good rate, was strong down driving lanes, saw the floor well, and was ready to go right off the catch. Another player who played hard and smart and left a big impact on her team's games.     The overall impression I got from Rajan is that she's a gamer. She really came alive for Jason Kidd Select in their game against [program_tooltip program_id='753717' first='WA' last='Premier'], hitting back-to-back triples and then coming down on defense to block a three soon after. She's a very heady defender who can cause stress on the ball, shoots it at a high clip, and proved to be an impact player in all areas of the game.     Capelli is a pretty athletic guard who showed toughness and heady play to make a big impact across the board. Used strong pivots inside to get around defenders and get looks at the rim, finished through contact, and was determined yet patient when working in close. Made a ton of hustle plays too, following her own misses in close with quick second jumps and sprinting for good closeouts, even blocking one corner three.     She scored in a lot of different ways, whether it was taking advantage of space in transition to walk into threes, pulling out a slow step on her drives to let defenders blow by, or using good fakes and hard dribbles inside to set up pivots around defenders. Olteanu was a pretty reliable bucket for EBC but she also showed the desire to work for good shots and get the ball flowing.
