Celebrating Memorial Day: Honor, Family, and Basketball Stars

Today, we celebrate those who fought for our country. We give thanks, give honor to those who laid it out on the line for us. Throughout the state, we take the time to salute those who battled for us and spend time with our families, and reflect on the blessings we are given.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When I think about Memorial Day, I think about grilling out, hanging out by the pool. Getting together with family and just having fun and cutting up. The day is filled with laughter; just like most of you, someone is always on the grill doing their thing. Now, I am going to tie this analogy together somehow, but I wanted to shout out some 28s who cook on the floor when it comes to this game of basketball. Yeah, the first thing that comes to mind are shifty people who can hit you with this move or that move, and rightfully so. This kid is a selfless gamer who goes out and does the little things right. She can score from all three levels, but what stands out is her ability to contribute in other areas of the game. She rebounds, defends, makes timely assists, and her presence on the floor goes unnoticed as she is willing to do whatever it takes for her team to win. She cooks opponents as she slices to the rim to get an easy lay. She is a shifty guard who is determined to succeed. Plays the game with such passion, she is a three-level scoring threat that can dial it up from deep, or put it on the floor to finish in the lane. She is a heady ballplayer who makes the right reads. She competes on the defensive end, getting both steals and deflections. She stepped into a starting role this season and never looked back, elevating those around her to be great. She has such floor presence, and you always have to keep tabs on where she is. She is a multi-level scoring threat that can really fill it up. She can handle the rock, dime up teammates, defend like crazy, and truly is a selfless individual. She is a hard worker who grinds all the time to perfect her craft. CPA is getting a steal in this young lady. She is a prospect that is turning college coaches' heads. Look for her to continue to grow and become a name mentioned around the state as a top solid prospect for schools at the next level. I know no one is perfect, but this kid gives their best on each and every possession. Has minimal mistakes, but goes out there and competes her tail off. She can score from multiple spots on the floor, facilitate the rock, but her calling card is her defense. She is going to get after it, making it tough for the opponent to work. She is a hardworking kid who plays the game at another level. Look for her to continue to thrive and become something special that will help lead the CA ballclub to new heights.<br><br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
