Future Basketball Stars Shine at Peach Games Showcase

This past weekend, the state of Georgia hosted the Peach Games, a prep hoops circuit showcase tournament featuring teams from across the southeast. Teams looking to get work, put in that work, ascended on Marietta to showcase their skills in front of media personnel. In doing so, we had a few squads that crossed the state lines to compete and sharpen some iron.    Here are a few young ladies you will need to keep tabs on from the state of Tennessee after having some strong performances.    Strong post player who has some range to her game. She can stretch the floor and knock down 3s or bang down low unleashing a nice bag of back to the basket moves. She cooked in the painted area and finished strong through the opposition as she was unmatched against those who drew the assignment. Her toughness was on par and you could tell anything around coming off the glass was hers. She was big-time in her team's efforts and you can tell she is building a solid body of work that will pay off for the Lady Patriots this upcoming school year.     This kid is playing with such confidence, you could tell in her ability to knock down shots at a consistent clip. She was getting to the rim with ease, knocking down the 3 ball, but what I liked the most was her selfless play as she made timely passes to teammates. She drew the defense and kicked out for better looks. She didn't force nor did she play rushed. She was cool, calm, and collective on the floor, displaying such poise in precision as she worked the opposition. Look for her to continue on this trajectory and go back to Hickman Co. high and play a pivotal role in their resurgence.     She will be a rising freshman this fall, but has been playing varsity basketball this past year. This young lady has brute strength and utilizes it well. She has speed, great reactionary skills, and plays with relentless energy on both ends of the floor. She prides herself on the defensive end, which is where she makes her money. She just has a knack for being around the ball and taking it the other way to finish. Still in the maturation process, I expect her to continue to grow and break many records at Valor Collegiate Prep.     Ran the PG spot with poise and precision. She hit a couple of key buckets in some games, but it was her ability to distribute the ball and play solid defense that really stood out. She was able to create turnovers, which led to easy buckets that went the other way. Her team fed off her energy as she was upbeat, communicating, and encouraging her teammates to push through. Another attribute that stood out was her ability to continue to get stronger as the game went along. She was the engine that kept the team going even with a small bench. Look for this young lady to be a valuable asset to the Lady Eagles program at Independence.
