Day 1 of The Classic did not disappoint! Great competition, high energy, and players leaving it all on the floor made for an exciting start to the live period weekend. Here are my key takeaways from Friday's action:

Kourtney looked dominant against Indiana Basketball Club S40. She finished with power inside and was pretty much unstoppable once she established deep post position. She ran the floor hard and was a workhorse on the glass on both ends. I also like the way she kicked the ball out to open shooters and denied post entry passes.

Haley showed noticeable improvement since the last time I saw her at the Classic last year. She's clearly expanded her handle, adding several crossovers to her bag. Haley created her own shot off the dribble and hit step-back threes with ease. She also did a great job penetrating and finding open teammates, showing growth as both a scorer and playmaker.

Shelbie brought relentless energy on the defensive end, applying great ball pressure and playing excellent on-ball defense. She made great use of ball screens, confidently knocked down an elbow jumper, and showed her court-vision with a pinpoint bounce pass that led to an easy bucket. (Photo Above #14)

Greta is on track to become a really good ball player as her career progresses. She handles the ball well, plays with poise, and stays under control. Greta excels as a driver, has a knack for finding gaps in the defense, and isn't afraid to take on contact at the rim. She makes aggressive closeouts, moves her feet well, and keeps ball handlers in front of her.

Courtney went off against [program_tooltip program_id='712592' first='Kentucky' last='Premier'] 15U NE2K. She dominated the glass, pulling down rebound after rebound, and made strong drives to the basket, finishing tough plays inside. Courtney also put on a shooting clinic, raining in three triples and finished with 19 points in the game.
