We've added 15 new names to the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2028 rankings, pushing the total to 90 rising prospects in all. This group started with the Freshmen 50 last fall, grew to 75 in February, and now reflects the steady emergence of Minnesota's next wave of talent with 90 ranked freshmen to date.

Getting into the prospect rankings is not easy. At this year's AAU State Championships alone, nearly 500 freshmen suited up – and that doesn't include the many others competing at different levels across the region. To break into the top 90 means something. To break into the top 50, like [player_tooltip player_id='991284' first='Sydney' last='Towne'] of Marshall just did, is very rare.

Just a quick reminder that the Prep Girls Hoops rankings are based on long-term potential as college players, not current high school performance. Some of these athletes are already polished, others are just beginning to tap into their ceiling. All of them have a chance to be college-ready three years from now.
Sydney continues to build on her breakout effort at the PGH Freshmen Showcase last fall, where she wowed scouts with her athleticism, intensity, and leadership. The 5'8 guard nearly made the Freshmen 50 in October and now she's officially in as the highest-rated newcomer in the 2028 rankings. Towne has been dominant every time we've watched her this spring. She plays with relentless energy, finishes through contact, rebounds with grit, and commands attention on the floor. Intelligent, coachable, and tough, Sydney has to be considered a scholarship-level prospect.

News of Vaeda's potential had come our way several months ago, complete with descriptions of her game from those in the know as well as highlight video to back it up. This spring we finally got to see her live. Vaeda made a strong impression on our scout Ally McGinnis, who said Davidson exceeded expectations. “She's versatile, skilled, and unshakably composed," Ally wrote. “Offensively, she can initiate from the perimeter or go to work on the block, using her strength and footwork to create mismatches. She's explosive off the dribble, defends with energy, and plays with maturity well beyond her years.”

Entering the rankings at #78, MacNab is a dynamic guard with big-game poise and strong upside. She averaged 8.4 points per game for a 19-win Richfield team and shined in a breakout performance vs. DeLaSalle, scoring 22 points on six threes. MacNab shot around 36% from deep during the high school sseason. This spring she has continued to be productive, averaging over 16 ppg at the AAU State Tournament for [program_tooltip program_id='713420' first='Minnesota' last='Diamond Elite']. Iona has impressed with her movement off the ball and crafty finishing. She is confident, composed, and talented.

The Woodbury guard is a rising talent with great physical tools and improving confidence. At 5'7 with length, quickness, and fluid movement, she's explosive in transition and tough to stay in front of. A thumb injury limited her varsity season, but Alexa's AAU play with [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] Elite shows that she's back in form and trending upward. Fahey makes smart decisions, defends with anticipation, and finishes well off the bounce. Her outside shot has improved, and she has the green light to let it fly. With her skillset and team-first mentality, Fahey has obvious long-term potential.

We've loved Hanson from the first time we saw her. Truth be told, the only thing that has kept Alexa from being ranked up to this point is her small frame. Hanson is a big-energy player who gets the job done for [program_tooltip program_id='712665' first='Metro' last='Stars'] 3SSB Makepeace on a regular basis. A poised, high-IQ guard with a smooth offensive skill set, Hanson handles the ball confidently and sees the floor well. Her jump shot offers a high-arching stroke that finds the target most of the time. She also owns a crafty floater (essential for smaller guards) and plays with composure, patience, and maturity.
