Her length, athleticism, speed, and basketball potential stand out. Trinity's length and anticipation caused several steals and blocks on the defensive end. Once she has the ball, the checkered flag waves, and she's off to the races! Trinity sprinted up the court to score many transition layups and get to the foul line. She took a steal coast to coast for a breakaway layup, picked off a pass, accelerated, used a spin dribble, and caused a foul. She showed her perimeter range by draining a corner three with a high release. Trinity used pushout dribbles, went between the legs, and earned another trip to the free throw line. She dished a nice left-handed bounce pass to a teammate for the assist and deflected an inbounds pass for a steal.

Kameryn is a versatile guard/wing combo who stood out for Sanford Meridien at the Au Sable Shootout. She's a confident shooter who is always ready to let it fly from beyond the arc. Kameryn knocked down a corner three, and her aggressiveness led to many buckets in the paint. Kameryn scored an offensive rebound put back, added a layup in transition, and won the battle for an offensive rebound to score a put back. She split defenders with a quick dribble and dropped in a soft floater off two feet. Kameryn made a great decision to seal her defender after making a basket cut, pivoted to get the edge, and finished the contested layup off two feet.

Myah is a playmaking point guard who put on a show at the Au Sable Shootout. She pushed the ball quickly up the court to score a straight line drive layup in transition and blew by a defender for a left-handed layup. Myah turned ball-handlers with her fast feet and beat them to the spot to stop drives on defense. She extended herself fully to convert a tough layup through contact and was a sniper from three-point range with many swishes from different spots. Myah created space from defenders with her crossover dribbles and delivered excellent entry passes for assists to open teammates. Myah looked to score as soon as she grabbed defensive rebounds and earned many trips to the free throw line--she's very efficient once she gets there. Myah snagged several steals and was a relentless defender throughout the day. She stole the ball, accelerated using pushout dribbles with both hands, and finished a strong and-one layup plus the free throw. Myah blocked shots and was an ultra-competitor for Beaverton.

Lily was one of the best finds at the Au Sable Shootout. It was my first time watching her play, and she left a great impression. She competes with all-out effort and contributes in every statistical category. Lily penetrated gaps with her explosive drives to the basket, caused many fouls, and converted her free throws. Lily snagged a defensive rebound, pushed the ball with both hands, changed directions with quick crossovers, and used a smooth euro-step move. She applied relentless pressure to opposing ball-handlers on defense to cause turnovers, pursued offensive rebounds, and dished accurate entry passes for assists. Lily was patient and poised as a driver; she recognized when the defense had the advantage, kept her dribble, and brought the ball out to the perimeter. She got downhill off ball-screens and finished a left-handed layup with great footwork in traffic. Lily drove hard through a defender's chest, maintained her balance, and finished the layup.

Megan is a tough and gritty forward from Jonesville who made a great impact with her defensive presence at the Au Sable Shootout. She made the other team work for everything in the paint. Megan worked hard to deny entry passes into the low post, refused to let opposing forwards get to their spots, and forced difficult shots. She drove hard to the basket for a layup, recognized an advantage in transition, and fired a lead pass on the money for an assist. Megan dove onto the floor to secure 50/50 balls and competed for every rebound. She grabbed an offensive board, earned a trip to the free throw line, and knocked down both free throws.

Gia was a difference maker for Tawas at the Au Sable Shootout. She created space with swift spin dribbles and made great dump-off passes to open teammates as the defense committed to her drives. Gia worked hard on defense to pressure the ball and created many steals. She kept her eyes up on the perimeter and made accurate overhead entry passes. Gia attacked downhill with a burst to score a contested layup and took a defensive rebound the length of the court to score an impressive layup with her left hand through contact. She would be an exciting guard to watch at our Freshman Showcase in August.

I was very excited to see Taryn with her Beaverton teammates for the first time at the Au Sable Shootout, and she made her presence felt. Taryn blocked two straight shot attempts on the same possession and grabbed three offensive rebounds on another possession. She's an anchor that won't be moved inside. Taryn denied an entry pass perfectly with her outside hand, deflected the pass, stole the ball, and took it coast-to-coast to score a contested layup off two feet using a sweet spin dribble. Taryn blocked many shots, ripped the ball clean out of her opponent's hands, and pushed the ball down the court for another layup in transition off two feet. She sealed off her defender with a strong stance to catch an entry pass, used a drop-step pivot, and caused the foul--hit both free throws. Taryn's going to be a force this winter, and the fundamental skills she's already showing give her a high ceiling. She would be a top post prospect at our Freshman Showcase in August.

Quinn was an impactful player for Tawas at the Au Sable Shootout. The Au Sable Shootout is where I coached my first varsity basketball games three years ago, and I was thrilled to be back last week! 20 thumb-area and mid-michigan teams flooded the Tawas gym to compete. Here are several prospects who made their mark at the shootout!
