Baden Summer Showcase: 8 Incoming Freshmen to Know

Take a quick look at some of the up-and-coming freshmen I saw at the Baden Summer Showcase. These eight players represent some real talent in this incoming class and should all be names to track going forward.   Zoaye Reed | 5'5 | CG | Sumner   Reed is a shooter to watch coming up in the 2029 class. Was excellent behind the arc at the showcase, setting the tone with some early threes and showing supreme confidence to fire away given some space. Hit off the catch, running down and spotting up in transition, and showed she can hit off the dribble too.   Jalaay Miller | 5'6 | CG | Gig Harbor   Smaller guard who showed a lot of toughness around the paint. Pretty determined and creative in her ability to slip around defenders and get to compromising spots, and was poised enough to use some great pivots when defenders caught up to her drives. She showed a lot of promising qualities and a tough mindset. Should be one to watch coming up in this freshman class.   Iyla Jones | 6'0 | SF | Bellevue   Really dynamic player with some legit size and skills already. Scored in a variety of ways, with and-one's, solid moves off post-ups, cashing in at the foul line, attacking gaps from the perimeter, and a good-looking jumper. Showed she can move and attack both with her back to the hoop and facing up. Shows good recovery defensively to catch up to drives and block shots from behind. Has some real promise athletically and as a perimeter threat with some quick feet and moves off the catch, and she showed she can defend all over the court.   [player_tooltip player_id='1239084' first='Lucia' last='Mayorquin'] | 5'11 | CG | Bellevue   Had an all-around impactful weekend as a strong guard with some impressive skill and athleticism. Made some tough drives to finish through defenders, showed she can cash in shots from deep, and has the ability to grab a board and push the ball up the floor. Also showed some real polish on a great up-and-under from the foul line, faking the stepback, using her pivot to get back under the defender, and then finishing in close.   Savannah Jeannot | 6'0 | SF | Bellevue   Jeannot is a tall forward with some length and hustle who battled on the glass and worked to contest shots and defend the rim. Pretty mobile for her size too, showed she can get up and down the floor, and looks like she should develop into a solid defender.   Isabella Irias | 5'8 | CG | Lake Washington   Another shooter to watch in this 2029 class. Irias can really drop them in from behind the arc and was a confident floor-spacer who can get her shots off quickly. She was very effective and efficient, dropping in a bunch of outside shots over the weekend.   Emily Hoffmann | 6'1 | SF | Bellevue Christian   One of the more intriguing freshmen at the showcase who has good size and showed a promising inside-out skillset. Good looking shot from behind the arc, size to post up and bang inside, and was fairly mobile defensively.   Raquel Dunnam | 5'9 | CG | Eastside Catholic   Looked pretty poised with the ball, operating at the one or the two, and was a pretty impressive shooter who already has some decent size and strength. Worked hard to defend the perimeter too and cut off drives.
