After a successful journey to the U.P., it was time for a trip south to Jackson College to watch their high school Summer league. 90-degree heat didn't stop these girls from grinding through the elements and putting on a show in the bubble! A couple of 2029 prospects appear ready for a big freshman season at Tecumseh. Everyone contributed across the board for their squad. Here are some of the girls who stood out on Monday.

Reese is an incoming freshman with potential to be excited about. Her length and athleticism immediately grabbed my attention at the Jackson Summer League on Monday. She intercepted a pass and quickly pushed the ball the other way using crossover dribbles. Reese snagged a defensive rebound and accelerated in top gear to score a left-handed layup. She stole the ball away again for another layup and shot the ball with confidence from beyond the arc. Reese is a 2029 prospect we would love to watch at our Freshman Showcase in August!

Makayla was cooking for Tecumseh at the Jackson Summer League on Monday. She is a ruthless competitor who wants to win every play and possession, which is one of my favorite qualities in her game. After a steal, Makayla chased down the breakaway and blocked the shot out of bounds. She was on fire from beyond the arc, burying several three-pointers in two games from different spots. Makayla asserted herself and showed off her strength by driving hard downhill to score many and-one layups. She buried a mid-range jumper off a crossover and created many steals with her defensive pressure. Makayla ran through a pass, side-stepped a defender, and finished through a foul. She had her best on full display.

Maggie is a guard/wing from Hanover-Horton who has upside as a college prospect. She showed it at the Jackson Summer Shootout on Monday. Maggie initiated contact to cause a foul on a determined drive to the basket and threw strong cross-court passes to teammates. She cut backdoor multiple times to score layups and buried a smooth wing three with a confident follow-through. Maggie worked hard on defense and was a difference maker on both ends.

Sophia will be an important rotational player and perimeter presence for Tecumseh this winter. She has a smooth shot from three-point range and knocked down multiple triples off the hop. Sophia jumped a pass for a steal and took it the distance for two points. She had a productive day at the Jackson Summer League on Monday.

Addi was a force for Tecumseh at the Jackson Summer League and teams had no answers for her. Addi grabbed a defensive rebound and headed straight towards the rim. She pushed the ball with both hands, gaining speed like a runaway train rumbling down the tracks. The last defender standing in the way shook her head and decided to avoid a head-on collision, moving safely out of harms way. Addi completed her course to the basket with a layup and provided what will be a "remember when" moment to look back on. She swatted multiple layup attempts aside in the paint and scored several offensive rebound putbacks. Addi will be an anchor inside again this winter that creates matchup problems for opponents.

Avery is an incoming freshman who looks like one of the top guards in this 2029 class. She played well at BCAM and had an outstanding day for Tecumseh at the Jackson Summer League on Monday. Avery was dialed in from beyond the arc, burying a wing three from well beyond the college line. She hit many triples throughout the day with balanced feet, fluid motion, and a wrist-snapping follow-through. Avery has long arms that close passing windows, and she maintains an athletic stance with good footwork on defense. Avery changed hands to score a contested floater with her left hand and knocked down a mid-range jumper off a cut. She moved to space well off the ball and cut backdoor again to score a left-handed layup off two feet. Avery pushed the tempo and took a defensive rebound the length of the court for a layup. She's a prospect with a bright future, and I'm excited to see her make an immediate impact this winter for the defending champs. We would be thrilled to have Avery at our Freshman Showcase in August!
