Section 7 Girls Weekend Recap: Who Showed Out in the Desert PT 2

This weekend was a reminder of just how special the girls' game truly is. I had the chance to take it all in live at the Arizona Athletic Grounds during Section 7 Girls Weekend — and the energy did not disappoint. From incoming freshmen to battle-tested seniors, the gym was filled with talent, effort, and competitive fire. The lights were bright, the matchups were tough, and the atmosphere was electric. The girls came to hoop — and they put on a show.    She was one of the best guards I saw at the event. A true point guard with a really good burst off the dribble — able to finish at the rim through contact and make plays for others. She attacked gaps with purpose and consistently found open teammates on the kick-out. Defensively, she was a problem — a really good on-ball defender who made life tough for opposing guards. Also rebounded the ball extremely well for her position. Just a complete floor general who impacted the game in every way.     She's a superb athlete — sprints the floor hard in transition and brings a high motor on both ends. Moves her feet well on defense and uses her length to harass ball handlers, block shots, and protect the rim. In transition, she makes good decisions with the ball and showed some impressive vertical pop. Also finishes really well around the rim, making the most of her touches inside. Just a constant presence all game long.     She rebounds the ball well on both ends and consistently creates second-chance opportunities for her team. Runs the floor hard in transition and puts herself in position to score. In the half court, she shows good patience and doesn't force anything — taking her time and making smart decisions inside. She's got a soft touch around the rim and can also stretch the floor by knocking down threes, making her a tough cover for opposing bigs.     She's a big-time floor spacer with a quick release from three and excels shooting it off the catch. Defenders had to stay tight on her, and she made them pay anytime she had space. Her ability to stretch the floor opened things up for her teammates and gave her team a consistent threat from deep.     She played with a really high motor and was constantly giving defenses problems. Sprinted the floor hard in transition and made herself available — always giving her guard a target. Finished really well through contact, even using her inside hand to convert tough looks around the rim. Just brought consistent energy and effort every time down the floor.     She shot the ball at a high level and consistently stayed shot-ready. Her quick release and ability to knock down corner threes made her a real weapon in catch-and-shoot situations. One of the most efficient perimeter threats I saw all weekend — didn't force anything, stayed within the flow, and capitalized on open looks.
