I spent my Monday over in Southwest Wisconsin for the Southwest Wisconsin Team Camp. A handful of the top teams from this part of the state participated in the event, and I have a few takeaways about players that I'll discuss today.

Bella DeViney

The River Valley wing stood out in her first station. The sophomore is a solid perimeter threat who can knock down shots. The lefty has poise with the ball in her hands. She doesn't get sped up when she picks up her dribble and sees the floor well. DeViney is also a physical kid who can rebound around the basket and plays hard.

Adlyn Esser

The Highland wing is a rangey kid who plays through mistakes. Even when she makes mistakes in drills, she continues to play without stopping to seek instruction. Effort covers up most mistakes you can make on the floor. Esser is also a solid shooter and has enough length to bother shooters when she closes out on the defensive end of the floor.

Reese Anderson

The Black Hawk wing takes every rep she takes seriously. She's willing to be a physical presence around the basket and has some skill on the offensive end. Anderson has beaten a defender off the dribble while attacking a closeout and knocked down a perimeter jumper. I love her effort.

Courtney Thyen

The 6'1 Shullsburg forward is an intelligent kid who can play a few roles. She is a solid passer when cutters get some space under the basket, and she can handle the ball while attacking downhill. Thyen is a kid who can tie an offense together. She also has the length and lateral quickness to create problems for opposing offenses on that end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='533073' first='Izabel' last='Durst']

The Barneveld guard is among the most talented guards in the state and played well this morning. She's a well-rounded offensive threat who can create shots for herself and others. I thought she excelled in the quick three-on-three stuff she did as part of her last station in the gym I'm in. Her ability to create off the dribble is as good as anyone in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1219523' first='Avery' last='Richard']

The Platteville guard is a physical kid who can do a little of everything. She was a double-double threat last season for the Hillman, and she showed why when she was in rebounding drills. She boxes out, chases loose balls out of her area, and has a nose for the ball. I've enjoyed watching her play since the first time I saw her in Mount Horeb last high school season.

Emily Laufenbert

Laufenbert has shot the ball well when she's had the chance this morning. The Highland guard also has quick feet and doesn't mind digging in and rebounding on the defensive side of the ball. She communicates well and competes. Laufenbert's jumper has good rotation whenever she shoots the ball, which will help her continue to excel at the high school level.
