Standout Players at Independence High School Basketball Camp

Though it is young in the team summer ball season, a lot of girls you could tell were in mid-season form as they competed. Indy's staff, along with their parents, did a fantastic job putting on this tournament. She shoots the rock with confidence and isn't afraid to let it fly, given even a small window. You can tell she has been working on her game as she not only can knock down the spot-up jumper, but has added an extra gear, where she attacks the rim. She, too, was solid defensively as she was able to get a couple of steals for her team that led to transition breaks. She doesn't get a lot of glory, but she is a hustler who is scrappy and does what is asked of her. She can stretch the floor, but where she makes her living is in the painted area. She can score through contact, set solid picks, be a part of the screen game, and rebound the heck out of the ball. A trait that is often overlooked is her ability to defend. She makes it tough for people to get high percentage shots, and it was on display today. She was scrappy on the defensive end and made some clutch 3s from the corner. What I love about her demeanor and attitude is that she is going to give you all she has and is willing to challenge anyone who is in front of her. There were multiple times where she attacked the painted area and finished with an up-and-under move, putting a little English on the ball as it swirled in. She has a nice size that enables her to battle in the painted area or stretch the floor. Guorchiek has a motor that enables her to play with multiple efforts. For example, a shot goes up, she grabs the boards, runs the lane, seals, takes a girl off the dribble, turns around, and locks up the opponent. Any loose ball, she was after. She just plays and does it the right way. She is a selfless athlete who doesn't care who gets the glory, just wants to get out there and compete. My assessment of her, she is a heady ball player who is a gamechanger. Someone who can score at will and is big-time on the boards. She is a multi-level scoring threat that can put the ball in the hole at a consistent clip. Her defense is what stands out as she creates havoc on that end of the floor. Countless times, her pressure forces the other team to commit a turnover, and then it's off to the races for the Lady Burros. You can tell she has grown since last season and has had a stellar travel ball season thus far. Keep tabs on this young lady as she is putting a solid body of work together that will give her nods from collegiate coaches.<br><br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
