On Wednesday, June 25th, I headed to Canton for the Plymouth High School summer league. Attending different leagues provides a golden opportunity to watch as many different teams and players in the state as possible–which is exactly what we want to do. Here are several prospects who stood out last week at Plymouth High School.

Eva is a guard from Plymouth who was impossible to miss because of how impactful she was on both ends during their Summer league game. Eva secured an offensive rebound to score a layup, tied up the ball on defense, and made a smart extra pass assist. She was locked in from beyond the arc, draining three triples with balanced feet and a confident release. Eva used a quick double-crossover with an inside-out dribble to get by a defender and scored the layup through contact. She will be a key contributor this winter and a prospect to follow with the Wildcats.

Riley showed a sign of things to come at the PGH Michigan State Tournament, and I was very impressed by how she played for South Lyon at the Plymouth Summer League. There's no replacing Izzy, but Riley has the confidence and skills to step into a major role as a freshman. Riley took a dribble hand off hard to the basket for a layup, chased down a breakaway to deflect the ball away, and stole the ball away from behind. Rylee went right by her defender using a quick crossover to score a layup and got by again to cause a foul. She used a between-the-legs, crossover dribble combination to create separation and fired an assist in transition. Riley creates space with her dribble to drive, pass, and shoot. Her toughness and competitive determination were evident throughout the game. South Lyon has another promising point guard prospect coming through their program.

I thought about getting an early start on the drive home, but South Lyon's squad convinced me otherwise during their final game at the Plymouth Summer League. Rylee has length and athleticism that immediately grabs your attention when she steps onto the court. She swiped the ball away, pushed it the length of the floor, and finished a left-handed layup off two feet. Rylee used a crossover dribble to get just enough space to drop in an and-one floater over a lanky defender in the paint. She utilized her long arms to block shots around the basket and poked the ball away for steals. Rylee covers ground in a hurry when she closes out to contest perimeter shots and has a high vertical leap. She gets downhill to score layups and can knock down jumpers on the perimeter. Rylee will be the next big-time basketball prospect at South Lyon.

Brooklyn competed hard on both ends and had a very impactful day for Wixom St. Catherine at the Plymouth Summer League. She battled to secure rebounds and pursued 50/50 balls. Brooklyn worked for inside position, caught the entry pass, and pivoted to score a layup through contact. She knocked down a jumper from the wing and added an offensive rebound put-back. Brooklyn used her length to deflect passes on defense and dove to wrestle for a loose ball. She's a scrappy player with relentless effort on the court.

Lauren rocked a headband on the court, which was a clear giveaway that she was going to be a serious hooper. She had a great day for Wixom St. Catherine at the Plymouth Summer League. Lauren used two straight inside-out dribbles to create a driving lane and accelerated downhill to score a left-handed layup. The inside-out dribble was her specialty, and she used it often to create space throughout the game. Lauren was confident handling the rock with both hands and blew by a defender again, using an inside-out move to score a left-handed layup. She catches to shoot--her feet and hands are ready to fire. Lauren swished multiple deep threes from the wing off the catch and dribbled into another triple.
