Rising Stars in High School Basketball: Class of 29

Over the summer months, I happened to see a lot of 29s who were putting in some quality work. Sure, there will be a few who will step into a lead role and help their ball club out right away. At the same time, there will be plenty of kids who will see varsity action as they carve out their niche, per se.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In my opinion, I feel the quality of basketball in our state is on an upswing. Kids are playing at a younger age, and those who are sticking with the sport bring a certain type of aura about themselves to the table. She is a kid who just plays ball. She can knock down shots from multiple spots, plays with multiple efforts, and just competes. This kid can spot up on the three-point line, but she will go get a bucket and finish at the rim. One quality about her that stands out, she is a solid rebounder, which in my opinion is a big-time quality that must have to stay on the floor. Blessed with size and skill, she can knock the 3-ball down consistently as well and bring a solid mid-range game to the table. She's also a solid defender who contributes on the boards. She loves competition and is willing to challenge anyone. She is willing to go toe-to-toe with anyone and is going to get after it on both ends of the floor. Looking for someone who is a challenger? This young lady wants the smoke and is willing to go at it. She can score from all 3 levels, defend, and contribute on the boards. This kid gets after it, and when she is on the floor, her speed helps her make an impact. On the defensive end, she can close gaps like no other, enticing opponents into turnover situations. She brings the energy and effort on that end, and her team feeds off of that. Offensively, she is aggressive to the rim and can knock shots down from multiple spots, especially from the mid-range. This kid is a heady ballplayer who can handle the ball. She is a floor general who keeps her eyes up, scanning the floor, and can deliver timely passes to open teammates. She can knock down the outside shot as well as finish at the rim.
