Sophomore Rising Stars: Impactful Players to Watch

Last year, it was a coming-out party for some, introducing them to the high school ranks. This year, there are plenty of kids ready to pick up where they left off and bring that same type of energy. This 28-class is special. A lot of girls will be vying for opportunities to not only right their name in the record books, but also lead their schools to state contention.&nbsp; These kids are some grinders. She is a solid two-way player who can score from multiple levels. She can get to the rim with ease or dial it up from deep with confidence. She is a heady ball player with great read/ reactionary skills. She pounces on opportunities to create turnovers defensively, getting easy transition buckets. She put up tons of points this past season as a freshman. Look for her to do the same next year, as she is one to break records at OHS. When she was on the floor, good things happened as she was always in the mix. Kallie can score the ball inside and out, using her frame. She took advantage of mismatch opportunities. She has a nice stroke that she displays from multiple spots on the floor. She can finish in the painted area and isn't afraid to go through contact. Defensively, she blocks shots and controls the boards. This kid gets after it and runs the show effortlessly. She can attack gaps to finish at the rim or knock it down from 3, scorching the bottom of the net. She is a heady PG that can facilitate the rock with ease. Sure, she can get hers whenever, but she is great at getting others involved early as well. Don't sleep on her defense as this is one of her calling cards. She possesses quick hands and feet (she's a soccer player), so locking up someone is easy to do for her. Look for her to continue to thrive on the hardwood (and on the pitch) and become someone who will help propel this Lady Lions ball club. A force to be reckoned with, she is Tennessee's version of a young Draymond Green. She can handle the rock, attack from the perimeter to finish at the rim, shoot consistently from multiple spots on the floor, just put it this way, she's a finisher who knows how to score the basketball. KT plays with a motor, and it's not just on the offensive side of the ball. Defensively, she is going to get steals, block shots, and get rebounds. She is a bruiser who is going to dominate you inside the arc. Sure, she has a solid game from deep, but inside the arc, whether it be the mid-range or the low block area, she is going to give you fits. She is a high-motor kid who is going to contribute in multiple statistical categories. Her defense is her true calling card as she controls the boards and will block shots as well. Don't let the size fool you, this young lady comes to play and packs a mighty punch. She can get to the rim with ease, knock down the mid-range, and dial it up from afar. She is going to create contact using her body on the defensive end, frustrating the opposition as she locks them up. She contributes not only offensively, but will do her job on the defensive end by getting steals and rebounds as well.
