Area Codes Showcase Underclass Standouts

The Area Codes Showcase in Phoenix, Arizona, host by long time National Scout Chad Groth, was as usual, full of talent on all levels. The under class talent was exceptional. Several Freshmen and even 8th graders stood out displaying the skill level of much older players. Here are the Underclass players that stood out to me.    Rozay Perales showed an incredible amount of poise and maturity for a young player competing with high school juniors and seniors. She is an excellent ball handler and passer. She has a very good shot for her age, and she is fearless on attacks to the rim. She is a very good defender that is always communicating with her teammates. She will be a very highly recruited player in Arizona for the next several years.     [player_tooltip player_id='1318483' first='Alexa' last='Longmire'] turned in a solid performance at the Showcase. She showed the ability to handle the ball in pressure situations, and she also showed that she was not intimidated by the magnitude of the event. She is a very good shooter for her age and she can score on all 3 levels. She can play multiple positions and only time will tell which position she ultimately plays. She can defend multiple positions as well and she has good speed and athleticism for her age.      Ava Gorder is an outstanding young prospect that has tremendous upside. She played well in the Showcase displaying the ability to compete against much older players, and she showed a toughness that is uncommon among players her age. She is a very good shooter. She has outstanding range and confidence with her 3 point shot and mid range shots. She is solid on the drive to the lane and she can also hit open players with nice passes when opportunities are there. She will be one of the top players in Arizona at her position for years to come.     Kayla Del Rio turned in a strong performance at the Showcase. The freshman from Salpointe has tremendous upside to her game. She has been working very hard on her skills as well as her footwork and agility for several years. She is a very tough competitor that is cool under pressure and not afraid of the spotlight. Shooting is her strength, as she can shoot well from deep and in the mid-range. She is a very high IQ player that will develop into a productive contributor for the Lancers for the next 4 years.     Kortney Bennett really stood out at the Showcase and she has tremendous potential. She is very versatile in the paint for a young player that can score with a variety of Post moves and hit mid range shots in the paint. She is a very good defender for her age displaying excellent athleticism for a player her age and size. She is a good rebounder on both ends of the floor. She runs the floor well and she has a high motor. She will be a highly recruited player in Arizona for years to come.
