Hoop Mountain Fall Showcase: Top Point Guards

Among all the talent on display, these were the point guards who stood out the most. On offense, she's super shifty, able to blow right by defenders to get all the way to the basket or stop for a smooth mid-range pull-up. She lowers her shoulders and uses her strength to push past defenders to the basket while also being an extremely capable ball handler who gives defenders no chance at stealing the ball. That's especially impressive in a showcase setting where chemistry is tough to build, but she handled it seamlessly. A 100% effort player, she picked up the opposing point guard full-court and never let up. On offense, Laila can spot up and knock down shots from deep, while also creating her own looks when given space. She's scrappy and relentless, hustling for every loose ball on both ends of the floor. Even as one of the smallest players out there, she found perfect spots to grab rebounds and create extra possessions for her team. Defenders must stay glued to her, or she'll knock down a shot before they even have a chance to recover. When watching her play, it feels as though the game moves at a slower pace for her. Lauren never rushes, always staying composed and under control.
