Nearly 100 prospects competed on Sunday in the Prep Girls Hoops Freshman Showcase at Maple Grove Middle School. We'll be releasing the first ranking of the 2029 class in a few weeks – our annual Freshman 50 – and numerous players made a strong case that they should be included. We're publishing evaluations on all 10 teams in the event. This is the best of Team 3, part 1.

Englund impressed with athleticism, bounce, and versatility. A disruptive defender with length and elevation, she rebounds well and runs the floor effectively. Though still refining her handle, she shows touch around the rim and a steadily improving jumper. This summer she shined with Inspired Athletics 2029 out of Fargo, demonstrating that she could score against quality opponents in top tournament divisions. A transfer from North Dakota, it may take some time for Kylie to work her way into the rotation at Wayzata but this is a player with scholarship potential.

Nelson, younger sister of Colorado College junior Isa Nelson, showed similar traits with length, smooth form, and scoring ability. She creates her own shot, uses a high-arc jumper, and attacks explosively off the bounce. With Crossfire Elite this summer, she proved she could score in double digits against strong competition including at Summer Jam and Mill City. Confident and assertive, Nelson is emerging as a player who will surely make an impact at Edina.

Lightfoot is a fearless, physical guard who thrives on intensity. Strong and stocky, she uses her body well despite a lack of height. Peyton creates separation, and confidently knocks down step-backs from mid-range and deep. As she did this summer with [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] Elite this summer, she showed poise and creativity at the Showcase, slipping through defenses and delivering under pressure. Vocal and energetic, Lightfoot leads by example and competes relentlessly.

Keating is a strong, stocky guard who plays with poise and confidence beyond her years. Already in the Lakers' varsity rotation as an 8th grader, Rose made significant strides this summer with the [program_tooltip program_id='712665' first='Metro' last='Stars']. She handles pressure well, sees the floor, and makes unselfish, smart decisions. Not the quickest horse in the race, but sturdy and composed, she projects as a solid point guard who distributes, defends, and leads. Look for Keating to have a big year at Minneapolis Southwest.
