This morning, I woke up with an interesting thought. If TSSAA could have a face of women's basketball, who would it be? Don't get me wrong, I understand why kids aren't individually promoted, as you may see in the NBA or WNBA, but what if they were? I know. I know. That would be tons of pressure. At the same time, there could also be tons of benefits to it as well.

So hypothetically, let's start the conversation of who would be the face of Tennessee women's basketball in the high school realm. One could argue that right now, [player_tooltip player_id='513228' first='Kimora' last='Fields'] would be a name. 3x state champion, ESPN Top 100 player. Sure, she could be up for discussion. Add [player_tooltip player_id='513227' first='Meeyah' last='Green'] as well. She, too, has numerous accolades and is committed to Clemson. Let's throw in [player_tooltip player_id='821620' first='Lauren' last='Hassell'], [player_tooltip player_id='513233' first='Natalya' last='Hodge'], and [player_tooltip player_id='821641' first='Haylan' last='Ayers']. I mean, we have a handful of young ladies who would represent the state well and be the featured face of this game.

Don't get me wrong, basketball is a team sport, but with the landscape of NIL and just growing the game, could this one day be a topic of having featured kids promoted? So this topic got me thinking even deeper. After the girls I mentioned, who would be the next wave of young ladies that would be these so-called featured faces of the sport?

Here are some names that I came up with. Keep in mind, I am just spitballing, and you could agree or disagree. So let's have some fun and kick around this topic.

Mo Mo buckets. The nickname sticks. She has done nothing but score, and her numbers keep going up. Since the 8th grade, she has been nominated for Miss Tennessee basketball. Now, as she takes her talents to Hamilton Heights, she will be going against a new crop of teams. Going back to her numbers, they don't lie. She's gotten better every year and teams have yet to slow her down.

Smooth operator, she has been sizzlin' on these courts for a couple of years now. She is a monster inside the arc, and she does work on both ends of the floor. She is tough to defend, and she has incorporated an outside game to go along with her ability to put the ball in the hole. Add in her defensive abilities, and you have one tough all-around kid.

People don't really talk much about her, but she brings a little Hailey Van Lith feel to the game. A young hooper who can penetrate gaps to cause disruption, facilitate as if she were Chris Paul, and really just be an effective and efficient person on the offensive end. She, too, can compete on the defensive end as well, mixing it up with opponents. A quiet nature kid whose game speaks volumes.

Kind of the Aja Wilson of the state. I am not saying she is that, but she has that feel of how her game is. This young lady is dominant on the glass, can knock down the mid-range, exploit the low block areas, and compete on the defensive end. Anyone who has faced her knows she brings the physicality into play as well. A super tough kid who has tremendous upside.

A young lady who brings that Paige Bueckers feel to the floor. She is a shifty guard who can score from all three levels, thread the needle with her passes, really run an offense, and truly compete on the defensive end. She's been battle-tested at a young age, so her ability to process the game and exploit weaknesses is crazy good. Look for her to have a sensational career where the sky is the limit.

As I wrap up, these are just a few names that come to mind. There are some others out there as well, but these just jumped off the page at me. Even though we don't promote the individual kid like they do at the upper levels, I do feel like the game in the state is in good hands. We have a lot of girls who will one day be collegiate athletes at various levels. Parity resides among us; therefore, we never know who will be on top. The way I feel, you never know which girl will rise to the top with the opportunity. Like I said, who is the face of Tennessee women's basketball? I will let you think about it.
