Why Size Matters in Women’s Basketball: Key Players

Shaq. Ewing. Hakeem. Alonzo Mourning. I am sure I am leaving some out, but there were big men who dominated the paint. Physical human being working pound against pound. They owned around the rim, they got boards, they blocked shots. If you had a big man on your team such as this, they gave that ballclub a big advantage in every outing. Equating to our game today and with women's basketball, if you have a big advantage like that, you do have an advantage over your opponents.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The adage “ you can't teach size” rings true, as many bigs in our state know how to work. They are highly touted, sought after, and when they take the floor, they are impactful. From multiple areas in the state, if you have a big group that can own the painted area, your chances of winning go up. Add skill and the ability to do multiple things, and the sky is the limit for your club.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Throughout our state, we have girls who are bigs that are power 4 material. From the west to the east and in between, we have these girls with the size that can do work. I am not going to mention all of them, but here are a select few you need to know moving forward. She is going to take this program to the next level, and in doing so, she will attract the attention of collegiate coaches near and far. Look for her to step onto the floor and showcase her skills, and compete to help Hamilton Heights compete on a national schedule.
