Now that Class 1A has been previewed and is posted online, it's time to turn our attention to Class 2A. With official IHSAA practices starting next week, I wanted to continue offering you a glimpse at what the 2025-26 season could hold with a preview of each of the state's 64 Sectionals once again. During the Spring of 2024, the IHSAA moved to a traditional enrollment-based format, realigning all classes with hard enrollment cutoff lines per class instead of taking nearly 400 schools and simply dividing them into four equal classes. With that said, each class has been more competitive, but the bigger classes have fewer teams than the smaller classes. This article serves as one of 64 previewing each Sectional in the state. In this specific article, I will take a look at Class 2A, Sectional #34. Below is a look at the teams in that Sectional, along with some general comments and analysis.
(SAG = Final 2024-2025 Multiclass Sagarin Rating (398 teams); SOS = Final 2024-2025 Strength of Schedule)

Bremen put together a fantastic 2024-2025 season, and despite graduating their leading scorer, they return their other four starters, including two double-digit scorers. The Lions will now lean heavily on the Senior backcourt trio of 5-7 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='434719' first='Eliana' last='Grubbs'] (13.7p, 6.1r, 3.8a, 2.7s), 5-5 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1131960' first='Emma' last='Kincaid'] (12.3p, 6.4r, 3.1a, 2.3s), and 5-6 guard Emma Lawmaster (6.8p, 3.3r, 2.7a, 3.4s). Grubbs is an athletic playmaker who can create for herself or others. Kincaid is tough-nosed and scrappy, and Lawmaster is a nice defender. All three can slide into a point guard role and run offense when necessary. 6-1 Junior front-liner Teagan Feathers (3.3p, 4.2r) is extremely long and bouncy. She could have a double-double type of average, which would help alleviate some pressure from their guards. 5-11 Sophomore forward Skylee Feathers (1.2p, 2.1r) saw action in 18 games as a rookie, and she brings additional size, length, and athleticism up front. The Lions have a little more size and talent in their younger classes as well, so they could put together nice depth behind their Senior stars. Regardless, look for Bremen to be a heavy favorite in Sectional #34.

If anyone has a shot to upset Bremen, it might be the Winamac Warriors. They return their top three scorers from a year ago, and all three scored more than 10 points per game. 5-7 Senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='486524' first='Kandace' last='Kroft'] (12.8p, 6.5r, 4.1a, 3.0s) stands out with her versatility. She possesses a solid to strong frame, and she has the ability to create and distribute for others or score it herself, plus she's tough-nosed and hard-working enough to go inside at the defensive end and rebound. 5-5 Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='751117' first='Sadie' last='Popejoy'] (12.5p, 5.3r, 2.2a, 2.4s) really improved from year-1 to year-2, and she could make another leap in her third year of Varsity action. She can play on the ball and run offense, but she is better as a scorer. 5-10 Senior forward Marissa Iverson (10.5p, 8.2r) provides an interior presence. She has nice length, solid all-around athleticism, and she works hard at pursuing rebounds outside of her area and creating second chance opportunities. If they can find some depth behind those three, they could approach 20 wins this season. Look for 5-2 Junior guard Maggie Keller (2.3p, 2.5r, 1.2a) to potentially be someone who can slide into a starting role and contribute more this season.

Additional Players to Keep an Eye On: Jimtown: 5-5 Junior guard Lily Gaugler (9.2p, 3.6r, 1.7a, 2.3s) and 5-6 Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1234528' first='Kiera' last='Jackson'] (6.8p, 3.3r, 1.3a, 1.7s); Knox: 5-0 Sophomore point guard [player_tooltip player_id='875133' first='Serenity' last='Nava'] and 5-7 Senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='486547' first='Rylan' last='Jordan']; LaVille: 5-8 Junior forward Denni Markin (6.5p, 5.5r, 1.1a, 1.8s) and 5-6 Senior guard Ava Weil (5.1p, 2.9r, 2.2a, 1.1s); South Bend Career Academy: Senior guard Alana Wright (8.6p) and Junior forward Muliyah Kelley (4.9p)
