I recently attended the Girls Hoop Series Fresh/Soph Showcase hosted by NERR, an event that brought together some of the most talented underclassmen in the region. These five players in the class of 2029 stood out as ones to watch for in the near future. Look out for my final piece of coverage from this event shortly.

Avery's length proved to be problematic for opponents on both ends of the floor. On defense, she uses that length to disrupt passing lanes and come up with steals. Offensively, once Avery catches the ball near the hoop, it's almost a guaranteed basket. I was impressed that she's only a freshman, and she clearly has a very bright future ahead of her.

Zahara is a true floor general who handles the ball with confidence and control, guiding her team up the court with poise. She does a great job finding her cutting teammates for easy layups and brings a sense of calmness and composure as the on-court leader. Zahara will take any open three she gets and knock it down at a high clip, while also moving well off the ball to create scoring opportunities for herself.

Kendall is a strong, high-energy player who hustles on every possession, diving for loose balls and giving maximum effort on defense. She's also a smart facilitator on offense, consistently finding her teammates in prime scoring positions. Kendall can score herself when the opportunity arises, showing patience and poise, and when she gets her chances, she can fill the stat sheet with points in bunches.

Loralei handles the ball with confidence and constantly directs her teammates on both ends of the court. Defenders who gave her space quickly learned their mistake, as Loralei punished them with her shot. Always hustling, she also racks up scrappy steals on defense, and her high basketball IQ shows her experience, which will serve her well at higher levels of play.

Ella is excellent at finding open teammates for easy shots, consistently creating opportunities and knocking down threes at an impressively high rate. Her willingness to absorb contact when driving makes her incredibly difficult to stay in front of. Beyond scoring, Ella shows relentless hustle all over the court, diving on loose balls, contesting rebounds, and making plays that energize her team. Her combination of shooting, court awareness, and effort makes her a standout player in every aspect of the game.
