Preseason Division 2 All-State Second-Team and Honorable Mentions

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The season is starting in just over a month, and I'd like to begin releasing my preseason All-State Teams this week, starting with the D5 All-State teams and progressing to the D1 All-State Teams on Friday. I'll have a first-team and second-team, along with honorable mentions in each division around the state. Before the season starts, I will also update rankings in the 26, 27, and 28 classes, as well as the Watch List for the class of 2029.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='914983' first='Beanie' last='Thompson'], jr., Edgewood</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Her fellow Edgewood teammate on the First-Team has earned plenty of plaudits in her time in high school. However, one could argue that Thompson has been the heart and soul of the Crusader group. She has been a key contributor and appeared in two state title games in two separate divisions the past two seasons. Thompson may not score 20 points every game, but she is a player who will make a noticeable impact in every facet of the game, and she plays hard.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='751283' first='Rowan' last='Counsell'], jr., Whitefish Bay</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Counsell had one of the most efficient freshman campaigns I've seen from anyone, and flirted with a 50/40/90 season in her first season of high school basketball. In year two, Counsell drew more attention from opposing defenses, and still found ways to help her team excel on the offensive end of the floor. Her Whitefish Bay team will be among the elite groups in D2 this season, and has a chance to reach the state tournament because of Counsell.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='533083' first='Taylor' last='Gifford'], sr., Waukesha West</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Northern Michigan commit has improved over the course of her high school career. She is a productive frontcourt player who adds a versatile piece to any offensive unit she's a part of. Gifford is a solid rebounder on both ends of the floor and can bring post defenders out on the perimeter to space the floor on the offensive end. Gifford will have a crucial role on the offensive end for Waukesha West, and could be a player who helps the Wolverines make another deep run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='914910' first='Addison' last='Schmidt'], jr., Rice Lake</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Schmidt, a two-sport athlete who will play basketball and volleyball at Green Bay, is an elite rebounder who may be the most physical frontcourt player in the state. There isn't a player who is as effective around the rim as she is, and she will give Rice Lake an edge in the paint whenever she's on the floor. Schmidt's ability to control the areas around the basket gives the Warriors their identity.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='533068' first='Kyrin' last='Lile'], sr., Elkhorn</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another Green Bay commit, Lile, is among the most effective frontcourt players in the state. The Elkhorn forward is a skilled kid who can operate with the ball in her hands and pass at an elite level for a frontcourt prospect.
