Last Thursday, we released our Fall Update for the Class of 2026. There was some slight movement throughout the Top 125, in addition to several new additions to the watch list, as we added 27 prospects to what already existed. Below is a look at the prospects currently listed with the shooting guard position as their primary position.

.

BREAKOUT CANDIDATES:
[player_tooltip player_id='624874' first='Mia' last='Barnes'], 2026, 5-8 SG, Decatur Central H.S.
- Mia is a high IQ, hard-working, skillful guard. She averaged 8.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game for the Hawks last season, but she missed the Spring & Summer due to an injury. She is a very good shooter when set and in rhythm, plus she can create scoring opportunities for herself. I feel like, if she can come out strong early this season, she could be a consistent 15 point per game scorer from the wing and really help the Hawks to be in position to compete for a Sectional crown. Mia also has really nice length and can defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='773840' first='Mykayla' last='Mast'], 2026, 5-11 SG/SF Fairfield H.S.
- The Fairfield Falcons have two other double-figure scorers who lead them in points per game, but I feel like Mykayla has the talent, skill, and potential to really take off this Winter. Each time I've seen her, she does a really nice job off the bounce of creating offense for herself or teammates. She has a nice mid-range pull-up, or she can glide to the rim somewhat effortlessly. She also possesses a little touch around the perimeter. If she can defend with a little more urgency, she already has the length to affect passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id='486514' first='Anisa' last='Tonkel'], 2026, 5-8 SG, Columbia City H.S.
- I can remember watching Anisa play as long ago as between her 8th and 9th Grade years. I have always been a fan; however, she opted not to play grassroots basketball this past Spring & Summer. She is a really nice athlete with a tremendous motor, and she just knows how to compete and make winning plays. With Addison Baxter having graduated, Anisa is someone who I feel can step into a major role, both in terms of leadership and statistical production. She has managed to earn multiple NAIA offers over the past few months.

ON THE RISE:
[player_tooltip player_id='486476' first='Shaylyn' last='Hawk'], 2026, 5-7 SG, Washington H.S.
- Shay was outstanding throughout June & July, and she absolutely proved herself as one of the state's better shooters/scorers. However, what I was also impressed with during July was, she took on a lot of ball-handling responsibilities and looked great in that role. She's probably more of a combo guard now, but she's still someone I want coming off screens and catching to shoot/score. She has broad shoulders, nice strength, plus she's a very good North/South athlete and a tough kid not worried about taking contact. She is a weapon.

[player_tooltip player_id='492323' first='Kamri' last='Rowland'], 2026, 5-8 SG, Rensselaer Central H.S.
- Kamri probably elevated her stock as much as anyone over the Summer. She is another strong wing, but in the past, I viewed her more as a small forward with guard skill. However, when I was able to see her extensively throughout July, she looked more explosive, better with the ball in her hands, she made shots more consistently from 3-point range, and she sat down and defended with physicality and toughness. I don't recall her having a bad game. She is a very good rebounder for her position, and she does a lot of the "little things" to help her team(s) win games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1137282' first='Macie' last='Saalfrank'], 2026, 5-8 SG, Norwell H.S.
- Macie drew a lot of attention late in the 2024-2025 regular season, then throughout the 2025 State Tournament. She played Junior Varsity as a Sophomore when Norwell was the State Runner-Up, but she was the second leading scorer on last year's State Championship team. She is an excellent shooter with range, she is extremely long, fluidly athletic, and she plays hard. She is not a big grassroots participant, so I'm assuming she enjoys another sport more, but she is certainly a deadeye 3-point shooter who you must chase throughout the Winter.

NEW TO THE SCENE:
[player_tooltip player_id='874337' first='Jenna' last='Berg'], 2026, 5-7 SG, Forest Park H.S.
- I really only started to get familiar with Jenna's game throughout July, and it was almost too late. Fortunately, I saw enough of her to know that she belongs on this watch list. She has a fairly athletic frame, she's a solid athlete in most directions, and she plays with a nice motor. She is another one of those "intangibles" kids who is willing to do a lot of the "little things". She is a capable perimeter shooter when set, and she's a solid North/South driver who can take on contact. If she could be just a little more dynamic off the bounce, watch out!

[player_tooltip player_id='1229791' first='Sarah' last='DePew'], 2026, 5-7 SG, Garrett H.S.
- Sarah has been a really nice high school player throughout her entire career, but this season, she is their heart & soul and is needed to score for them to be successful. She has nice touch from the perimeter when given any space, plus she played some point guard in the past, so she understands how to break defenders down off the bounce and create space. She plays hard, she's tough-nosed, and she helps make winning plays. I look for her to have a big Winter for the Railroaders, and they'll need it this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='721513' first='Sophie' last='Goodwin'], 2026, 5-9 SG, Lapel H.S.
- Sophie is a prospect who could have a better college career than high school career, and I say that because it seems like she has gotten better each year, she has grown throughout high school, and she has gotten stronger and more explosive at the same time. Now, she is a wiry-strong, fluidly athletic wing guard who does a nice job of getting out and running. She is a capable perimeter shooter, and that continues to improve, but she's still better using her athleticism to attack the basket. She could be a nice small college "sleeper".

[player_tooltip player_id='486524' first='Kandace' last='Kroft'], 2026, 5-7 SG/SF, Winamac Community H.S.
- Kandace is one of those kids you can best describe as a "ballplayer". Throughout her high school career, she has been one of the best players, if not the best player, on Winamac's roster. She is tough-nosed, hard-working, and she can play multiple positions at both ends of the floor. She handles the ball quite a bit out of necessity, sort of like a point forward. She has good vision, she's a willing passer, but she can also score it a little from each of the three levels. Additionally, she is an effortful defender, a good rebounder for the position, and an "intangibles" kid.

[player_tooltip player_id='999582' first='Kyra' last='Schuckman'], 2026, 5-7 SG, Washington H.S.
- Kyra is one of many nice prospects/players in Washington's 2026 class. She is a strong guard, a hard worker, and she plays with a great deal of toughness. In July, she was so much more assertive and effective than I ever recall. She was nice attacking the basket North/South, she knocked down open jumpers when in rhythm, plus she handled it a little in transition and initiated the offense. At this point in the recruiting process, if she's interested in college ball, I think there are several Midwestern small colleges who could absolutely use her in their program.
