Hall Of Fame Week Recap In The Mid-State

Teams from different districts got together to mix up and test how their squads would do coming into the season. There were tons of solid matchups across the state, pitting the best against the best in many games. It was good to get back in the gym and see the vast array of talent we have across our state. We have some true ballers among us, but we also have solid programs looking to take the following steps towards that all-mighty trophy at the end of the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Though we are still months out, it was good to see many matchups. In week 2, we will cover some solid matchups from various Thanksgiving Break tournaments. Before we get into that, let's do a quick recap of Week 1 in the Mid-State.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A couple of teams to watch in the private school sector. Ezell-Harding and CPA. Ezell plays fast and furious, and their defense is the real deal. They are long and lanky, with plenty of athleticism top to bottom. CPA has both size on the inside and guards who can knock down the 3-ball. These kids are disciplined and play hard. Two teams that will be tough matchups throughout the year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Though they lost to Bradley Central, MTCS looks like a tough team to beat. They have dynamic guard play with [player_tooltip player_id='821670' first='Jade' last='Watson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='780456' first='Jules' last='Ferrell']. A knockdown shooter on the wing with AC Shirley. [player_tooltip player_id='816653' first='Kaliah' last='Crawford'] is commanding the painted area. They have the plateau on lock and are 3-0 through week one. This squad plays with relentless energy and discipline, and shares the ball like no other. Scoring more than 20 points in each of her contests, she is shooting the ball with confidence. She is a 3-level scoring threat and a tough matchup for any team. Starting for the Lady Mustangs, Sage brings size and athleticism into the fold. She's a heady ballplayer who isn't afraid to do the little things. She can score from multiple spots on the floor, then turn around and compete on the defensive end. She may be young, but she plays with relentless energy. The senior wildcat is letting everyone know why she will be heading to the Boro to be a part of the Lady Blue Raiders program. This kid was all over the place, contributing in multiple ways as her club took victories last week. Scoring and defending, she was one of the reasons the Wildcats took home multiple dubs.
