The conference races are heating up, in Northeast Wisconsin, with a few surprise teams jamming up the works. In a couple of days we will turn the calendar to 2026 and the race for March will be on. Here is what is happening on this side of the state in part 2 covering the FRCC.

Fox River Classic Conference

1. Notre Dame-4-0 (7-3 overall)---There is a familiar face back on top of the FRCC and that is the Tritons. Notre Dame brought a 68 game conference win streak into the 24-25 season but had a relative "down" year finishing second to undefeated De Pere with a 15-3 conference record. The return to the top can be largely attributed to the return of 6-0 senior [player_tooltip player_id='842199' first='Kaia' last='Waldrop'] who missed all but four games last season with a knee injury. She seems to be quickly rounding back into form leading the team at 14.4 ppg, 5.7 rpg, and 1.6 apg. Fellow seniors [player_tooltip player_id='842209' first='Aspen' last='Abel'] (12.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, and 3.9 apg) and [player_tooltip player_id='1275665' first='Destiny' last='Webster'] (11.0 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.4 apg) add scoring balance for a team averaging 65.6 points per game and already holds conference victories over De Pere, West De Pere, and Manitowoc Lincoln. They will face another difficult task Tuesday when they play pre-season favorite Bay Port at home.

2. West De Pere-2-1 (3-5 overall)---The Phantoms are an early surprise team to be at the top of the conference. Hit hard by graduation, they lost their top 5 scorers accounting for 60 points per game and made the jump from the Bay conference to the more difficult FRCC. West De Pere is led by [player_tooltip player_id='893991' first='Clara' last='Hoffman'] (12.1 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.9 apg), [player_tooltip player_id='879987' first='Molly' last='Walder'] (12.1 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 0.4 apg), [player_tooltip player_id='842266' first='Alexa' last='Rattray'] (6.1 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.5 apg), and [player_tooltip player_id='874377' first='Cassidy' last='Baciak'] (6.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.1 apg) but will need to get significant contributions, from the rest of the roster, if they look to stay around the top amid a tough stretch in 5 of the next 6 games in which they play De Pere twice and Bay Port.

2. Green Bay Preble-2-1 (4-5 overall)---The Hornets are another team that I predicted to finish in the middle of the pack that has been a pleasant surprise so far in the FRCC. Led by junior [player_tooltip player_id='874378' first='Brooklynn' last='Lucassen'] who is averaging 13.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, and 1.0 apg, [player_tooltip player_id='874399' first='Camille' last='Konkol'] (11.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.0 apg), and [player_tooltip player_id='1225981' first='Gracie' last='Day'] (8.7 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.4 apg) they have Preble off to a 2-1 start. If they are able to weather their next eight games, they will have a legit shot at the conference title. However it won't be easy for them including two games against Manitowoc Lincoln and one each against West De Pere, De Pere, Bay Port, and Notre Dame.

2. De Pere-2-1 (7-2 overall)---De Pere, last year's champion, fell to 3rd in my preseason projections and that is where they are about halfway into the conference slate. Having lost All-Conference players Jaden Ciesielczyk (11.0 ppg) and Egan Bierowski (12.5 ppg) this season looked like it might take a while for the Redbirds to find their grove but they seemed to find their stride early with a big road win, December 19th, at Bay Port. 5-9 junior [player_tooltip player_id='874379' first='Aubree' last='Fischer'] leads De Pere with 12.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 0.8 apg, and 1.8 spg. Returning 1st team All-Conference senior [player_tooltip player_id='772587' first='Abigail' last='Tassoul'] is right behind with 11.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.9 apg, and 2.1 spg. All-Conference Honorable Mention and all-defense junior [player_tooltip player_id='874376' first='Adeline' last='Dwyer'] (10.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 3.5 spg) round out a dominant "big 3" that has a second consecutive conference title in their sites.

5. Manitowoc Lincoln-2-2 (4-4 overall)

5. Bay Port-1-1 (7-3 overall)

7. Pulaski-1-3 (4-6 overall)

7. Sheboygan North-1-3 (6-3 overall)

9. Ashwaubenon-0-3 (0-9 overall)
