IOWA CITY, Iowa - Dubuque Senior traveled south Tuesday night for a matchup with Class 5A third-ranked Iowa City High. The home team proved too much for the Rams in this early-season, Mississippi Valley Conference tilt.

The visitors delivered highlights even in the loss. There's potential for success if members of this group can gel during the campaign.

Nielsen can be described as a combo guard with equal ability to play on or off of the ball. She's a skilled ball handler, able to take defenders off the bounce with either hand. Surveying the floor during dribble penetration, Nielsen has a knack for finding open teammates in position to make a play. The senior displays good shooting form, getting lift on her jumper and rotation on the ball. Nielsen is physically strong, which helps her guard multiple positions and stand out as one of her team's top rebounders. She logs a lot of minutes, showing stamina to go the distance.

The only non-senior in the Senior rotation during a game at Iowa City High early in the 2025-26 season, Pfab is advanced beyond her years. The sophomore is a position-less player, in many ways, on both ends of the court. She was challenged defensively facing a Division I point guard for the Little Hawks and held her own. Lateral quickness, long arms and desire aid in that successful endeavor. On offense, Pfab flashes a good handle. It leads to benefiting off of the bounce against taller defenders, especially. She can take smaller guards inside, where she can shoot effectively with either hand. Only beginning her second year as a prep, Pfab is one to watch moving forward.

Like several members of the 2025-26 Dubuque Senior rotation, Weber contributes multiple ways from multiple positions. She showed that during an early-season contest at highly-ranked Iowa City High. Despite a loss, Weber looked capable of scoring on all three levels. The form is pure from behind the arc and a willingness to absorb contact at the rim also leads to success. The toughness to score in the paint also transfers to the defensive end and on the backboards. Weber is quick up and down the court.

Williams was jumping center for Dubuque Senior when the Rams traveled to highly-ranked Iowa City High early on in the 2025-26 season. Her height, long arms and athleticism make that a good assignment for the senior. Foul trouble slowed her down in this contest, but Williams flashed skills to operate effectively in the paint. In addition to the previously mentioned strengths, physicality makes her a tough matchup on the block. Williams does well to use her body to shield the defender, leading to clean looks at the rim. She positions herself well when shots go up, allowing her to control the backboards. Williams shows a knack for blocking shots, too.
