Lehi (7-0)

Lehi hasn't faced a high-pressure schedule yet, but they've handled everything in front of them and remain undefeated. That changes immediately this week with two major tests. On Wednesday, they'll see Mountain Ridge, followed by Westlake on Friday — both matchups capable of handing Lehi its first loss.

The Mountain Ridge game should feature an old-school battle in the paint, with two true centers fighting for boards and positioning. But the real deciding factor could be the guards. Westlake brings speed, depth, and a bench loaded with talent that rarely drops off, meaning Lehi's perimeter play will need to be sharp and disciplined in both games.

After the holiday break, Lehi's schedule lightens temporarily, but the reality of region play will hit hard. Lone Peak and Skyridge remain the standard in Region 3, and staying perfect will require Lehi to elevate its consistency and composure against two of the strongest programs in the state.

Wasatch (6-0)

Wasatch has several upcoming games that will give a clear indication of where it truly stands. They'll take on undefeated Dixie next week, then turn around to face defending 5A champion Bountiful the following week. After the holiday break comes the marquee 5A matchup — a clash with Pleasant Grove, the only other undefeated team in the classification and a roster loaded with experience and size. Their final major pre-region test is Bingham, a team that traditionally exposes weaknesses with physical play and disciplined defense.

What works in Wasatch's favor is that they have legitimate size, rim protection, and enough varsity experience to avoid being rattled in big moments. This stretch will not only test their record — it will reveal whether Wasatch is a true 5A contender or a team still building toward that level.

Pleasant Grove (6-0)

Pleasant Grove comes into the season loaded, with a roster that has already handled several quality opponents. Their closest contest so far was still a 20-point win over Bingham, which shows just how dominant they've been. The biggest early test ahead is next Tuesday's matchup against the 6A state champions, Lone Peak— a game that will reveal just how high PG's ceiling really is. Other games that could be of interest are Wasatch and Kanab, which both bring some paint presence.

What sets Pleasant Grove apart is its overwhelming size and depth. With [player_tooltip player_id='873276' first='Sutton' last='Villa']—the tallest player in the state—anchoring the paint, PG holds a physical advantage that few teams can match. Surrounding her is a rotation full of veterans who have logged significant varsity minutes, giving them experience, versatility, and consistency across positions. And if foul trouble hits, Pleasant Grove doesn't lose much; their bench is deep, talented, and capable of maintaining the same level of play.

Their schedule includes a couple of wild-card opponents, including an unknown Canadian team and a program from California, but Pleasant Grove should be favored in the majority of their remaining matchups. If they stay healthy and continue to execute at this level, they are shaping up to be one of the teams most likely to finish the season unbeaten.
