Chariton notched their 11th win of the season last night against Cardinal High School by a 20+ point victory. In this outing, the best player on the floor was clearly [player_tooltip player_id='1448039' first='Payton' last='Snook']. Snook, the 5'8 CG, demonstrated her motor and Will with a 19 point (5/7) and 19 rebound showing. Snook did a little bit of everything from the tip to the final buzzer, consistently crashing the boards on both ends. Offensively, she absorbed contact all game long, eventually ending things while going 9/11 from the free throw line. When you look at players who held their own last night, Snook is 100% in that conversation.

Assumption didn't come out victorious yesterday against Central DeWitt in a close battle but they gave it a respectable effort, battling until the very end. One of Assumption's best producers on the evening was SG - [player_tooltip player_id='1055342' first='Ella' last='Curoe']. Curoe ended the game with 19 points and 7 rebounds, along with recording a few other positive stats throughout. It's nice to see other role players stepping up for their squad as we move closer to the Playoff's. When we get into the Post season, it's a group effort to the max so Curoe's game will be a crucial part to their success as we move forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1575763' first='Haley' last='Engels'] of Bettendorf High School wasn't her team's leading scorer in their big win yesterday but she did chip in whenever possible. Engels stood out in this battle because of her catch-and-shooting ability off of someone else's creation. Engels had 11 points on 4/7 shooting from the field, while going 3/5 from deep beyond the three point line. This is the type of production you love to see out of the others around [player_tooltip player_id='612984' first='Alyvia' last='McCorkle']. She is obviously enemy #1 for opposing programs but if Engels can keep this up, who knows who far could go come the month of February.

Clinton High School revenged a loss from earlier this year last night with a W over Pleasant Valley on the road in enemy territory. Whenever you speak about Clinton, you speak about [player_tooltip player_id='643486' first='Jhaliana' last='Guy'] but someone that is going to be vital down the stretch for this team will be SG - [player_tooltip player_id='1220516' first='Alli' last='Haskell']. Haskell led the team in scoring last night, registering 22 points on 50% shooting from the floor. She also went 6/6 from the free throw line, making the most of her opportunities when she found contact near the bucket. In reality, there needs to be someone else on the River Queens side that opposing teams have to plan for and that player should be Haskell. She is skilled enough as a guard, she is smart enough to make good choices when the clock is ticking down, and she can lead a program with her communication. She just needs that confidence behind her and they will be in good shape as their regular season comes to an end.

There are only certain situations where you will see a team go 0-for from three and they still come out on top but that is what Garner Hayfield Ventura did in their upset of Lake Mills on Friday night. GHV combated this shooting slump by getting to the line over 20 times, pounding the inside interior of the paint with any chance they could get. Their biggest producer for the Cardinals was PG - Isabella Schisel. Schisel finished with a game high 27 points off of the attack. She mainly killed her matchup by getting into then teeth of the defense off of the bounce, ultimately finishing the play on either side of the bucket when no one else would step up on help side. She was relentless as she found holes within the defense and that helped her thrive. In the end, it was group effort but Schisel held her own and she definitely stood out as one of the most coordinated all around.
