The calendar flipped to a new year, but the film stayed the same. New Year- Same Bag hilights players who didn't need a reset — because they've been steady all along. Some operate in the elite lane, some are “steady eddy” and knocking loudly on the elite door. The things they all have in common are consistency, confidence, and production. In this article, we recognize some of the prospects (most are familiar faces) who were standouts at the SUTS New Year Classic.

[player_tooltip player_id='874206' first='Bianca' last='Hall'] put on a talent display in the first half against defending State Champion Miami Country Day that left everyone impressed. Well, more than impressed. For Hall, however, it was another humble day at the courts. She knocked down several threes, a few midrange shots, a couple of dimes to cutting teammates, and steals converted to layups and assists. Hall's game showcases her intelligence and instincts on the basketball court. Nothing seems rushed or planned- it just unfolds into an impromptu high level performance. At the SUTS Classic, Halls was a familiar player, doing familiar things in a New Year.

[player_tooltip player_id='221602' first='Kori' last='Edge'] was a pace-changer- new year, same speed. She used her speed and quickness to shred pressure, attacking the press and making the right reads—highlighted by a drive-and-kick to [player_tooltip player_id='514584' first='Casey' last='O'Connell'] in the corner for three. She turned on the jets in transition, repeatedly blowing past defenders, pulling way and finishing with ease (all on a 94 foot court). Speed wasn't the only common thread to carry over - new year, same bag. Edge knocked down a corner three off an inbound, drew fouls attacking downhill, and was a terror defensively with deflections and steals. Her ability to accelerate, pressure the ball, and get to the rim consistently made her one of the most impactful guards on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1092442' first='London' last='Thomas'] was in attack mode all game showcasing a tight handle, an advanced change of pace, and the ability to finish on both sides of the rim. She crossed over, got downhill, and finished through contact on multiple occasions. Thomas showed the versatility- she can initiate offense at the point, create separation with an array of moves, and get her shot off whenever she wants. The versatility guard can also play off the ball and make her self available for the feed with timely cuts and flashes toward the ball. She attacked both directions, drew fouls repeatedly, and played with force. Defensively, she showed high IQ—anticipating actions, switching effectively, and coming up with steals, including a strong read against the pick-and-roll. Thomas is an elite guard with a deep offensive bag who also impacts the game on the defensive end. A new year- arguably even better than 2025-Thomas.

[player_tooltip player_id='214184' first='Jalynn' last='Belton'] was on fire from deep, drilling three triples in the first half—from the elbow, the top of the key, and beyond. She followed it up with a coast-to-coast layup finishing left and continued to attack inside. Belton showed great awareness recognizing mismatches, punishing smaller defenders in the post. She is an elite and versatile scorer who can stretch the floor, handle the ball, and score at multiple levels.

[player_tooltip player_id='1215794' first='Isabella' last='Sangha'] was a dominant interior presence at the New Year Classic . She established deep position on the block, played with physicality, and relentlessly attacked the rim. She punished defenders on the low post, drew multiple fouls, and was at the free throw line so often that she claimed “2026 Homestead Exemption” for the tournament. Her ability to command attention inside opened up passing lanes for cutters, and she even stepped out to knock down the three. She consistently put the defense at a disadvantage and controlled the paint with force and poise. It's a new year for the multi talented Sangha- same dominance, sane dig, same bag.

[player_tooltip player_id='221593' first='Yinuo' last='Wang'] played with the poise and control of a true floor general. For Wang, it's a new year and a different responsibility. Wang is the same player who shot the lights out in last year's State Championship. The same player who was there two years ago making contributions on a State Championship team. This year Wang has had to handle the ball handling duties and make playes for her self and plays for her teammates. At the New Year's Classic, she handled the ball well, consistently got into the paint and created advantages off penetration. Wang showed strong playmaking instincts with timely kick-outs to shooters and a well-delivered bounce passes in transition. Defensively, Wang was active in the passing lanes, turning steals into fast-break opportunities. The versatile guard was composed, efficient, and impactful on both ends while directing the flow of the game. She still has the ability to shoot the rock. New Year - same bag- different responsibilities for the talented guard.
