has been in the top spot or near the top spot for the past 3 – 4 years. Belton has been lights out the past few months that I’ve seen her. First, she held it down in the State tournament to lead her team to another state Championship. Belton connected on clutch shot after clutch shot under the pressure of the game and the pressure of winning it all – again. The Junior guard has always been a potent three-point shooter, but can score at the basket and in the midrange level. At Sunshine Showdown, Belton was clutch and one of the best perimeter shooters in the building. While many new names have emerged in the class, Belton has remained a constant—a foundation piece in the 2027 group who continues to set the bar and uphold the standard of the 2027 class.

This was the best I have seen Jalynn play at an event that I can remember. She was oozing with confidence and her play reflected it as she was definitive in her decision making and trusted her shot making several in a variety of ways. Belton has always been a strong kid which is a huge advantage for her holding off defenders while handling the ball and finishing through contact at the rim. She threw and complete two passes that were at least 3/4 quarter court in length and hit her teammates between the numbers. Defensively, her ability to anticipate the pass and timing when jumping into the lane to intercept was stellar and she showed very quick feet and hands guarding the ball. Belton shot the ball very well from deep and was a vocal leader at times for the Suns. The size and skills along with her knowledge of the game were on full display. If this is a sign of things to come, then I expect Jalynn to have a huge final summer on the EYBL circuit.

Jalynn had an outstanding weekend at UNF and played a major role in Miami Country Day’s championship run. She scored 27 points in the semifinal on 10 of 18 shooting while adding four assists and five steals. In the state final, she hit two huge threes late in the game to stop Holy Trinity’s momentum during their fourth quarter runs. Her leadership, physical but controlled play, and ability to make smart, poised reads on both ends are big reasons why Miami Country Day continues to be a staple at the state tournament as she helped lead them to a fourth straight title.

Jalynn delivered one of her best performances on the biggest stage. The MCDS guard finished with an efficient 27 points while adding four assists and five steals in a dominant all around effort. She played a physical game and was tough to stop as she scored at all three levels by knocking down three threes, hitting the pull up middy, and finishing strong through contact at the rim.

was on fire from deep, drilling three triples in the first half—from the elbow, the top of the key, and beyond. She followed it up with a coast-to-coast layup finishing left and continued to attack inside. Belton showed great awareness recognizing mismatches, punishing smaller defenders in the post. She is an elite and versatile scorer who can stretch the floor, handle the ball, and score at multiple levels.

played with grit on Day one of the tournament for mainly her grit on the floor. She didn’t go crazy in the scoring department, but she demanded a lot of attention from the opposition and that opened up the floor for her teammates. Belton impacted the game in other areas. She led her team in rebounds from the guard position and led all players in the court with 5 steals. Belton didn’t scorch the nets, but her efforts in all other areas were good, and college coaches saw the “push-through.”

Jalynn is a player that can impact the game in many more ways than just scoring. Her communication and leadership are easily noticeable even as a younger player at the 17U level. She is great at snagging a board and pushing it in transition with control. One thing she did well today that many struggle with was her post entry passes by getting the right angle and bouncing it into her big. JB’s mid-range game was on display too with a beautiful jumper and her ability to stop on a dime and rise up.

Jalynn is very familiar with Lakeland, and it showed. As one of the top Sophomore’s in the State, she had a huge Championship game with 14 points and 7 boards to make sure Miami Country Day got their 3-peat. The bright lights do not bother her, and she’s only going to get better with two more years of HS basketball left!
