[player_tooltip player_id='541419' first='Kate' last='Harpring'] has put up some big scoring numbers in her high school career, but on Thursday night she showed just how elite of a passer she is as well. Facing an overmatched North Springs team, Harpring could have scored 50 with no problems, but instead looked to get her teammates involved in the scoring action early and often. Several players stepped up and were the recipients of excellent looks by Harpring and did a great job putting the ball in the basket. Kate did score in impressive fashion as usual herself, really pushing the tempo on the fast break all game long. Building consistent and reliable depth, which it looks like Marist has done even more since I saw them in November, is key this time of year as teams prepare for postseason play.

Morrison was one of the few players on the court who could keep up the pace with Harping and in doing so was able to create opportunities for herself to score.. Morrison did so multiple times on the fast break catching the ball and scoring quickly near the basket. Morrison also showed good form on her shot and scored from the perimeter. She did a very good job rebounding the ball and played hard on the defensive end.

Without injured Center [player_tooltip player_id='900328' first='Keana' last='Wilder'], Marist is relying on Snipes to provide them with a solid post presence. Snipes is a very good softball player for Marist as a strong kid who is not afraid to mix it up rebounding the ball or getting physical on the defensive end. She did both well and also did some good things on the offensive end. Snipes showed that she can make shots from the perimeter if other posts don't come out to defend and if they do she has the athleticism to blow by them and either score or find an open teammate.

Johnson was another player who helped Marist physically overwhelm North Springs by sprinting up and down the floor continuously all game long. Johnson handled the ball well for Marist especially on the break where she used her speed to get the ball up the court quick and find open teammates. Johnson was excellent in the back of the 1-3-1 zone trap defense that Marist ran most of the game. Her quickness was very evident as she got steals and deflections anticipating where the ball would go next. Her hustle and energy had a big impact on the game.

Shell did a nice job running the floor and had some good finishes at the basket. She is a skilled player off the dribble which she demonstrated getting into the paint. She showed good decision making and passing ability in the game as well, playing under control and not forcing any shots or turnovers. Shell has good size and looked like a pretty strong young player. She will only get better with more experience and confidence. Shell has the skill and ability to step up and be a big contributor for Marist the rest of the season.

Madesko was a bright spot for North Springs. She showed a high basketball IQ being the primary ball handler while being overwhelmed by a much better team. Madesko played with poise and never got rattled for the Lady Spartans. She stayed positive throughout the entirety of the game in a difficult situation. Leila has some skill on offensive. She has very long range shooting the ball from three. She not only handled the pressure but beat it by driving by the defense or making crosscourt passes. She should have some good games scoring the ball as region play continues.
