The 5th Annual Ledawn Gibson Classic at Winter Haven High School featured a full day of competitive matchups and strong performances. I was in attendance for all of Saturday's games, and the following players consistently made their presence felt on the floor. Whether through scoring, playmaking, or impact plays on both ends, these standouts played key roles in their teams' success and left a lasting impression throughout the event:

Morgan is a quick point guard who consistently got downhill with speed and control. She used her handle well to attack the basket and finish plays. On the defensive end, she jumped passing lanes and created opportunities for her team. She was especially effective in transition where she both scored and assisted on a good portion of her team's points.

Sarah has good size and a strong frame for her position and showed versatility on both ends of the floor. She played an unselfish brand of basketball and consistently made winning plays. Sarah was very impressive on the offensive glass, snagging rebounds and creating extra possessions. She finished well through contact and showed touch with a silky pull-up jumper from around 10 feet inside the lane.

Alyse made an immediate impact as a lefty, finishing an and-1 right off the opening tip. She showed good length and wingspan and used it effectively on both ends of the floor. Alyse knocked down several deep two-point jumpers, showing her ability to stretch the floor. Her turnaround mid-range jumper over her right shoulder stood out as a high-level shot. She also showcased a crafty move by driving left, switching the ball to her right hand, and finishing through contact for another and-1. Defensively, she blocked a shot and went coast to coast, finishing with a euro step and an and-1.

Shea is a high-motor player who consistently showed hustle and competitive toughness. She used a quick first step to attack the rim and finished with craft around defenders. On defense, she deflected a pass in transition that would have been an easy basket for the opposition. Offensively, she drove through the middle and made a smart play, finding one of her shooters (KK) in the corner for a quality shot.

Ajyah is a crafty left-handed guard who consistently made the right play. She passed the ball extremely well and showed a natural willingness to share it with her teammates. Her quickness allowed her to get downhill, draw multiple defenders, and create scoring opportunities for others. She delivered tough left-handed passes in traffic with defenders draped on her. Late in the game, she made a big-time assist over the top of the defense to help secure the win.

London is an impressive 8th grader who showed confidence handling the ball and bringing it up the floor. She displayed nice handles and good composure for her age. LL has good length on her frame and used it well on both ends of the floor. Defensively, she showed good, active hands by creating steals and jump balls. Offensively, she converted some big and-1 opportunities, including a tough runner and a shot fake that sent the defender flying and resulted in a foul with strong finishes on both plays.
