Five schools – Mississippi Valley State, Columbia College, Erskine, Parkland College and Chaminade were anxiously anticipating Parks' announcement on Jan. 15. Parks could only commit to one school – and that school was Division I Mississippi Valley State. Coach Jason James and the Delta Devils program has to be thrilled with what it will be getting in Parks. She has led her 1A North assembling to a 13-2 record and the Eagles were ranked second in the most recent 1A coaches' poll – only behind Military Magnet. North's only losses this season were opposite 5A Division 2 Eastside and inter-county rival 3A Orangeburg-Wilkinson. Through 15 games, Parks has averaged 18.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 3.5 assists. She is ready for the Southwestern Athletic Conference - but is the SWAC ready for her?

Back in early December, Sumter announced she will stay put in the Palmetto State as she takes her talents to Lander. Sumter has averaged a double-double through 11 games – 18 points and 12.2 rebounds in addition to 3.5 steals and 3.5 assists. The result? Lower Richland is 11-3 with its only defeats occurring against 5A Division 1 powers Lexington and Wando – as well as region rival Darlington. Sumter's play has earned the Diamond Hornets a top 10 ranking (eight) in the most recent 4A coaches' poll.

If one is a top-tier in-state talent, one can count on Newberry College coach Johnette Walker to have her eyes on said talent. Brown, a standout at 4A Fountain Inn, will be taking her talents to Newberry College following her swan song season in Fury navy blue and burgundy. Brown has played in 13 games this season for Fountain Inn and has averaged 6.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per contest. Her rebounding efforts have her second on this year's Fury in boards. Brown is the lone senior on this year's Fountain Inn assembling and is the first player from the young program to commit collegiately.

Speaking of the Wolves of Newberry College, coach Johnette Walker also landed a commitment from a senior part of the nucleus at 4A Westside. Her commitment occurred on New Year's Day. Clinkscales has been a mainstay for the Rams since her eighth-grade season when she played in 24 games. This season, Clinkscales' Westside assembling has posted a 12-1 record with its lone loss occurring in a holiday tournament in overtime to 7A North Meck out of North Carolina – and that loss was only by one point. The Rams also received the top rank in the most recent 4A coaches' poll. Clinkscales has won two state championships throughout her Westside tenure and is looking to finish her high school career with a third.
