Every January around the time of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, a number of showcase events typically take place that provide a break in between region contests.

One of those events is the She Got Next MLK Showcase – one of its three events that occur during the school ball slate. The other two are, of course, the Thanksgiving Showcase which occurs in the Midlands and the Christmas Classic that takes place in the Upstate.

A grand total of 16 teams made the trek to 5A Division 1 school J.L. Mann to be part of the day-long slate of hoops – as did us at Prep Girls Hoops. We conclude our coverage of this year's She Got Next MLK Showcase by unveiling the final third of our top 15 performers.

Holmes and her 1A Lee Central bunch were on the bad end of an emphatic defeat at the hands of 5A Division 2 Riverside. She still put forth a winning effort as she led her team with 16 points. The Stallions' senior understands that playing in the interior means playing with one's back to the basket on offense. Defensively, Holmes is consistently watching where the ball is. Impressive post moves are another element to her game – as is the ability to draw contact and find her way to the free throw line. She is the lone player from the class of 2026 on this year's Lee Central roster.

While the 2025-26 season has seen more highlights for 5A Division 1 Dorman than lowlights, the Cavaliers' contest against 4A Westside was an exception. White still had a productive evening at the 5A Division 1 J.L. Mann office to the tune of 14 points to pace her team. White is one of the more effective bigs in the state – if she has the ball in close proximity to the rim, it is virtually automatic two points will be scored. As a veteran, White plays with her back to the basket, is effective in the low post and is every bit as effective a rebounder as she is a scorer. Add to the fact that White can block many a shot and there is a reason why the walking double-double that is White is poised for success at the collegiate level with UNC-Wilmington.

The day's play at the Ronald E. Moore Gymnasium began with Burrows' 3A Powdersville squad matching up against SCISA 4A Northside Christian. A defensive-minded battle ensued which included Burrows helping the Patriots' cause with a 12-point effort. A good bit of the offense that Burrows provides is a byproduct of what she gets accomplished on defense and she also thrives as a playmaker in the transition game. Burrows also has no problems with drawing contact that can place her at the free throw line. She can effectively play at either of the two backcourt spots and is one of four juniors on this year's Powdersville team.

The late morning matchup of the day featured Hollenbeck's 4A Lancaster team squaring off against 2A Kingstree. An entertaining, defensive-centric contest went in the direction of the Blazers, but Hollenbeck's 11 points ensured the Bruins had a chance to win from start to finish. As a frontcourt force, Hollenbeck's bread and butter is what she is able to get accomplished in the interior as a scorer and as a rebounder. She did display her offensive versatility as she connected on one of the two 3-pointers Lancaster had on Saturday morning. Six of Hollenbeck's 11 points were placed on the scoreboard in the first half.

Even though SCISA 4A Ben Lippen was on the bad end of a 56-20 decision to 5A Division 1 public Mauldin, Summons still did everything she could for her team as she placed nine points on the board on what was otherwise a tough day at the office. Summons may stand at an even six feet, but she not only operates as a forward but also as a guard. That stature also gives her a big advantage in the area of rebounding. Summons may be young, but her willingness to draw contact to get to the free throw line is symbolic of her confidence. She is the lone eighth grader on what is a very young Falcons assembling.
