In a top four contest in region 6-AAA on Friday night the North Hall Lady Trojans went on the road and upset the number one team in the region in Greater Atlanta Christian. Unfortunately both teams and coaches each lost a key piece and one of their top scorers in game earlier in the week due to knee injuries. This was the first time both teams have played without those star players.

North Hall busted out of the gate with multiple steals in their full court press and they made shots. It was a double digit lead for the Lady Dragons before I could blink and they pushed the lead to over twenty eventually winning by 21. [player_tooltip player_id='974971' first='Lauren' last='Hemmer'], Tallulah Bell, and Camille Nix were outstanding for North Hall, who also got a nice performance from freshman Malory Wyse. GAC was led by [player_tooltip player_id='1226988' first='Peyton' last='Frazier'] with 12 points and 10 rebounds while doing things physically at her size that other kids just cannot do. [player_tooltip player_id='1320320' first='Jermani' last='Govan'] also contributed a double-double in another good performance in what has been a very good senior season. Without [player_tooltip player_id='932138' first='Barri' last='Newman'], GAC started freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1726782' first='Onyekachi' last='Ele-Oroko'] whose elite athleticism was very evident to anyone watching this game from the start.

Hemmer added another very impressive scoring night in the region for the Lady Dragons, finishing with 28 points. Hemmer was outstanding shooting the ball from three where she buried shots from the corners, wings, and top of the key. She used her quickness on the break to get out in transition and score easy layups for North Hall as well as knocking down a nice midrange jump shot on a BLOB play. She also was able to penetrate the defense and score on a nice floater going right from the wing. Hemmer recently picked up an offer from Berry and is a player who should get more looks from colleges in the southeast. She will be a very good college player and a steal for whoever signs her.

Tallulah is a player I had heard a lot about, but had not seen myself before Friday. It's nice when a player is better than advertised and that she was. Her reputation as a pass-first point guard was valid and she did a tremendous job distributing the ball to her teammates all over the court, but she is more than capable of putting the ball in the basket herself, making her one of the best guards in the '29 class in Georgia. Ball scored driving left through the defense and scored off the glass over much taller defenders. She was able to score on the block by going under, not trying to go over, Frazier with a nice finger roll off the glass, and she shot the ball well from outside of the paint. Ball has a lot of upside and a very bright future.

His is another young guard who did an excellent job operating out of the dribble-drive offense that North Hall was running. She was equally effective getting assists and scoring for the Lady Trojans. His is a very good shooter from distance with great form and consistent motion. She was very good off the dribble drawing help from other defenders and hitting teammates in the pocket for open outside shots. She plays the game with a lot of maturity and intelligence and is very fundamentally sound. Camille may not be very well known now, but she has all the tools to be a very good high school player and a chance to be very good in college. Keep an eye on Hix!

Wyse is another very talented young guard who wasted little time getting in on the action. She was not bothered at all with the physicality of doing the dirty work, rebounding, defending, and stepping in to take a charge. Wyse looked to attack when she got the ball on the offensive end and was effective when she did getting to the basket and scoring as well as knocking down a shot from the perimeter. She has good size and was active the entire game. Wyse is another player for North Hall who has the potential to be very good over the next three years. The future is bright!

At this point I know what I am going to see when I watch [player_tooltip player_id='1320320' first='Jermani' last='Govan'] play. She works as hard as anyone of the court. She uses her size and strength very well in the post. She is a skilled scorer with her left hand and an excellent rebounder. Like, Hemmer, Govan could be solid contributor for the right college program the next four years. She is a natural leader who was vocal during rough stretches for GAC and stayed positive encouraging her teammates. Govan is a very effective scorer inside 12 feet and will need to up her production scoring with the loss of Newman. Something she is more than capable of doing.

Jeckewicz stood out defensively for GAC late in the game when she was able to use her quick hands on the ball to disrupt the Lady Trojans offense. She was able to cause tie ups and jump balls as well as ripping the ball out for steals. She is a good three point shooter, who also uses the midrange area to score, and is quick enough to get out in transition and score for GAC. Dru was playing with a mask on that has to be uncomfortable and limit her vision, but she was still effective on both ends for the Lady Gladiators. She, along with the rest of her teammates, have to step up in Newman's absence, something she is capable of doing.
